Super 8 Motel St. Augustine Florida

This motel was called La Siesta when we stayed there for two nights before continuing to Orlando and one more night on the return to Canada part of the trip.

Now a Super 8 Motel, I liked the Spanish-style architecture of the two-storey room block, with its white walls, red tiled roof and arched supports in front of each room. A few strategically placed palm trees and a view of the beach and Atlantic Ocean just across the highway, now I felt like I was not in Canada anymore!

Unique Quality: The 50-room hotel is actually located on Anastasia Island, a few minutes drive from downtown St. Augustine, and it was nice to be on the outskirts. Just down the highway a bit further to the south was the impressive Fort Matanzas Park and along the shorefront here were lovely sandy beaches. Things were a bit different when we returned to go home. The tide was in and the on-shore wind was chilly and blowing hard. As a result, there was no swimming and we were bundled up, ready for Canada, as you can see in the photo.

Their room rates presently range from about US$50-110 plus taxes.
