MM 778.6 Municipal Marina
by grandmaR
This marina is convenient to town. They have showers, laundry facilities and a small store. There are also pay phones.
We couldn't find a good spot in the anchorage so we gave up and went to St. Augustine Municipal Marina. (It was Sunday, and Oyster Creek is only open on weekdays and the same for Oasis. They could only give us a big slip and it only had 50 amp.
They have no splitters. They also had no diesel until Tuesday 11/27/2001. Their rate list (effective 10/1/01) is $4 to $5/hour (depending on length of boat) $1.15/ft per day, $6.00/ft/week and $10.00/ft/month ($250.00 min.)
Electric is $5.00/day for 30 amp and $8.00/day for 50 amp. It is $45/month for 30 amp non live-aboard or $135/month live aboard with AC. 50 amp is $225/month live-aboard with AC.
Internet connection is $1.50 per session which I thought was outrageous, so if you want to get email it is probably better to walk into town and go to the library where it is free.

A few miles east on A1A on Conch Island are the beaches of St Augustine and Anastasia Island State Park. This area is perhaps one of the last unspoiled beach areas on the east coast...no condos and plenty of seagrass, turtles and sea oats. Often you can see dolphin jumping in the distance in the early morning.
It's Not the Original
by TravelinPair about Columbia Restaurant
He says: The Columbia is a good restaurant, but it is lacking the ambiance and the quality of the original Columbia House in Ybor City. She says: We had no problems getting reservations for a late Friday evening after arriving at our B&B. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their meals as much as we did. The wine list was extensive and a little overwhelming. We ended up ordering wines from the main menu and enjoyed them quite well. The scallops appetizer was delightful, but the shrimp appetizer was a little burnt. The Steak Chaco was fantastic! We would recommend that to anyone. The Pompano was good, too; but had a hard time competing with the Chaco. Definitely our favorite dish was the Steak Chaco. It was cooked perfectly to temperature, and the flavor stayed with us for the rest of the evening. Even though he says it isn't as good as the Steak Columbia, she says it was the best steak she's had in ages!
Good restaurant, with a cool name too
by spgood301 about Son of a Fish
I admit that I'm not much of a seafood eater, but I did go to Son of a Fish my first night in St. Augustine with a few VTers and an open mind. It was quite good. Some good friends and a bottle of wine shared. It was a great time. The service is friendly and good. If you're in St. Augustine and like seafood, be sure to stop by. We had the raw oysters and mussels. Again, not being a huge seafood eater my point of reference isn't the best, but I enjoyed them...especially the mussels
