Restaurants in St. Pete Beach/Tampa

Could anyone suggest some restaurants in the area? Any cuisine is fine, but local restaurants are preferred over national chains.

On St Pete Beach you will find Silas's Steakhouse, inspired by the real life story of a hermit who lived on Cabbage Key. Give it a try. Also try Skidders, open all day, fantastic value, wonderful pizza but also Italian and Greek dishes too. I also recommend Snappers, upmarket, owned by a local fisherman, great food and wine list.
If you like Thai food try Nori Thai on Blind Pass Road.
Beverly's La Croisette is great for breakfast and lunch on Corey Avenue.
On Pass-a-Grille try the Hurricane and Sea Critters.
None of these are chains, hope this helps.

"A Sliver of White Sand"
While it was my first trip to Florida, the atmosphere and beaches of St. Pete fit the preconceived images I had in my mind. White sandy strips leading to aquamarine water, filled with people 4 shades too dark enjoying the bright incandescent rays of the Florida sun. I was there for a conference, but the area served up enough for some relaxation when not listening to science talks.
Most of the activities in St. Pete are centered around the warm Gulf of Mexico water, from parasailing to jet skiing to soaking up the sun and playing in the surf. Try it out if you're looking for a place to relax, but that's most of what is there to do.
