Take a visit to the floating...

Take a visit to the floating gardens with their many spiecies of plant life. The large gardens and parks made for just sitting and relaxing and enjoying people and the things they do. Of course the beaches of white sand that seem to stretch forever are very beautiful. There is no place to compare with the sunsets you can see over the Gulf.
tailgating?
by shohman
One of the best parts of going to a game is the tailgating. In fact, the team web site encourages it. I cooked enough food to choke a pig, loaded my cooler with beer, and brought beach chairs. I envisioned hordes of fans mingling and eating before the game. Sadly, when we pulled into the lot there was nobody tailgating. We tried to start a tradition, and many people looked at our food with envy, but nobody joined in. Very sad indeed
The (Old) Sunshine Skyway Bridge
by sarahjayn
Okay, so the same year that I was born (1980), a freighter lost control in a storm and did in this bridge. Always looking for ways to make a total and complete tragedy into a family attraction, Floridians decided to turn the sections of the bridge that were still standing into a fishing pier. Now, what's left of the bridge is the longest fishing pier in the world. Visitors pay by the carload to get in. It's part of the parks system, so there's supposed to be no alcohol on the pier, but everyone sneaks it in. It's worst than a junior-high dance.
The fishing is pretty decent here during the week, but it's too crowded on the weekends. The best time to go it either really late at night or freakishly early in the morning. It's open all the time except for in severe weather. You can buy or rent equipment there. The bait is pretty cheap, but the equipment can cost you.
Sand Key Park
by arasnosliw
Just south of the public beaches in Clearwater cross a bridge over Clearwater Pass onto Gulf Boulevard, and turn right into Sand Key Park.
This 95 acre beachfront county park tends to be less crowded than the Clearwater beaches to the north.
There are picnic shelters and tables with grills, a playground, a dog park, public restrooms, water fountains, cabana rentals, showers. The beach is lifeguarded from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM every day for your safety.
