The Don CeSar is a large, pink, but gorgous hotel located on Saint Pete Beach. Opening in 1928 it was a where all of society went, such as American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Today it is a St. Petersburg landmark and the nicest hotel in the area.
This hotel is very luxurious and I can highly recommend it for couples on their honeymoon or those just wanting to get away from it all. It is pricey but I think it is worth the money.
The hotel is also said to be home to the ghost of the developer Thomas Rowe. So if you stay here keep your eyes open and you may see him yourself.

We were unable to stay here because of the lack of funds. At present a one night stay with breakfast for two will run over $300.00 US. Thomas Rowe, the builder, died without a will and the hotel soon fell into despair. The US Army bought it and used it as a convalescent hospital, the VA used it as office space and then it was abandoned. In 1973 it reopened as a luxury hotel and now is a Pet friendly hotel that even furnishes pet massage therapy with a special pillow.
Unique Quality: Gatsby Era pampering. Five star dining.
The Don CeSar Beach Resort.
275 guest rooms, inluding 43 suites and 2 penthouses with terraces.
RATES: $166 - $1,285 per night (seasonal).
Unique Quality: This historic pink 'castle' on Florida's west coast has yesteryear charm and classic European interiors. Built in 1928, the 10-story Don CeSar, a longtime point of reference on maritime navigation charts, features Mediterranean and Moorish architecture and includes numerous balconies and terraces. Now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the landmark property once served as a hospital and Veterans Administration office. Reopened as a luxury resort in 1973, and completely renovated in 1993 and 1994, the Don CeSar evokes the feel and flavor of Europe, with a magnificent location on one of Florida's finest beaches. Amenities include concierge, valet parking, golf shuttle, 2 swimming pools, Jacuzzi, fitness center and spa, and children's activities. Saltwater aquariums accent the Maritana Grille for fine dining; the indoor/outdoor Sea Porch Cafe is ideal for casual breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy an exceptional view of the Gulf in Sunsets' Lounge
