More about Seaside Inn

Lovely, quiet getaway

by TripAdvisor Member Luv2Travel15

We spent Christmas week at the Seaside Inn. It was just perfect. We had a one bedroom apt on the gulf. The waterview was spectacular, the pool was warm, the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The kids could just fall out on to the beach. The water on Sanibel is not as lovely as I might have hoped, but everything else was just perfect.

Loved the Seaside Inn

by TripAdvisor Member sandpailkids

We stayed at the hotel in January 2007 for a week and just loved it! We had four little kids under the age of 8 with us and they cannot wait to go back next year and so we already booked for next year! Every aspect of our stay was great! The hotel staff was always available and very helpful. They put the umbrellas and chairs out on the beach for us each day. The beach was incredible and after touring the whole island I would say probably the best on the island. There are endless amounts of beautiful seashells! The pool was so nice and warm! We fist were in a one bedroom cottage which I highly recommend...they are nicely decorated, great layout, comfortable beds, great kitchen, and nice private decks. We ended up switching to the 3 bedroom unit just because the kids could each have their own bed and more space! We also loved this unit for our large family. Each evening the staff delivered a basket with danishes, coffee and orange juice for the following morning. The town is just a few minutes drive and you can stock up on groceries at Jerry's. We utilized the very accessible laundry facilities several times! The property has only 32 units and so it has a very cozy, private, and safe atmosphere. I would recommend this for a couple looking for a romantic getaway or for a family that does not want the big resort feel. We felt very comfortable having our kids run between the beach and the room. We checked out every hotel on the island to make sure we were booking the best for next year! If for some reason this hotel is booked then consider Song of the Sea which would be our second choice. It is just down the road and also, small & cozy. We also did an all day private boat charter out to Cayo Costa and Cabbage Key with Water Experiences at www.sunsetride.com. This was better than taking a big group charter because we saw so much more and we were on our own schedule. Capt Mark Hatfield and Theresa were so friendly and great with the kids! See the group photo with them! This was the kid's favorite part of the trip and a must do! This would be great for couples or for a family! Make sure to also go to the Shell Museum, visit the J.N. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, dine at Gramma Dot's and at the Bubble Room on Captiva. Have fun in the sun!

We truly enjoy coming to this little spot on the beach. My family and I have been coming here for 3 and 4 day trips since 2002. It used to be rather dated and simple. Thanks to Hurricane Charlie, that has all changed. Since then, it's updated, clean, fresh and yet the atmosphere is still the same! Polite and courteous staff, quiet housekeeping, free bikes/helmets, free movies, free books, and daily (albeit simple) breakfast. We generally stayed in a 3 bedroom place, but now they're only 2 bedrooms with a pullout. No matter, there's plenty of room.

The good? 1. Right on the beach. 2. Quiet at night. 3. Close parking

Improvements? 1. A/C motors that don't sound like airplanes flying over. 2. More sound insulation in the walls. 3. More towels.

I highly recommend for an easy, pain free getaway.

Wonderfully Quaint with great service

Loved our family get away at the seaside Hotel. The rooms are updated with pale colors just like their website said. I found my room to be very clean with linens and sheet were of good quality . Nice toiletries too. They provide you in a startard room with a mini fridge, plates, cutlery, micro wave and mini sink. The room lacked a closet. This could pose a proplem, although if you don't mind sharing with your neighbor there is an ajacent closet. They do not allow a late check out. You have to pay for an additional day. The location has a freash water pool and directly on the beach. They provide you with bikes that you can ride around the many bike paths the island has. They also loan you movies or books. The island and hotel are very acomodating to those with children. Great place for families.

Cozy Little Inn on the Gulf

by TripAdvisor Member PebblesCalifornia

My fiance and I stayed at the Seaside Inn on Sanibel Island this past April. We booked in advance and were able to get a significant savings on a gulf front view room. We had a lovely view of the beach and watched the sunrise everyday. The porch was enclosed which allowed us privacy and protection from flying critters. Everyday, we went shelling to various beaches and came home to bleach, dry and pack our shells out on the porch. The actual room, bathroom and kitchen area were relatively small, but everything was clean. We selected the Seaside Inn due to its location, and did not spend alot of time in the room. The Seaside is affiliated with other hotels in the area, which allows you to use their property, pools, etc. We really liked the pool at the Seaside Inn. It was heated, clean and very close to our room. The staff at the Seaside were pleasant and very helpful for our accomodations and recommended restaurants. There was even a little shelling room to clean our shells. If you plan on shelling there, buy some bleach at the grocery store and bring ziplock bags and packing materials so your shells arrive home safely. We made daily trips to various beaches. One thing you'll find there is that sometimes there is alot of seaweed on the beaches..simply find a place to enter where there isn't that much, and if the seaweed grosses you out, bring some watershoes to get in and out of the water. If you want to stay at a luxurious hotel, you will not be pleased with the Seaside. Accept it as a comfy little inn on the beach, with white sands, and chairs out on the beach, and do not attempt to compare it to a 5 star resort. We enjoyed a relaxing time there, rode bikes the Hotel offers, and came home with over 4,000 seashells!
