Walking With A Friend
by catalysta
I met up with Vt veteran TropicDiver while I was in the Ft. Myers area for a little sunset photographic jaunt to Sanibel Island. For those of you who never saw Bob's original pages (he deleted them from VT last year, our loss), he's the connoisseur of sunsets.
I’m a beginner at the photography thing, so I’ve been influenced by several of the fine photographers on the VT site, Bob included. Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, guys! Who knows, maybe someday someone will want to imitate my work, LOL.
Glad to see you are back & building even better pages, Bob!
Or if you are feeling ambitious...

...use some of the interesting beach debris and get creative wtih your sand constructions!
I love the way this one utilized the strange curly stuff that was everywhere on the beach as hair. Too cute!
Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge
by goingsolo
The wildlife refuge is a protected area for snakes, alligators, bald eagles and falcons. Unfortunately, I didn't see any while there. I spent a bit of time wandering around the refuge and reading the exhibits at the visitor's center. There are a couple of trails in the area, including one which starts at the visitor's center and leads 4 miles to an estuary. But it was too hot to trudge 4 miles on a hot dirt path through an area which resembled the Everglades. At least I thought so.
There is an auto road which loops around 5 miles of the refuge and a tram tour which does as well. Spend some time on either and you'll have a better chance of spotting wildlife. Just make sure to bring water and mosquito repellant.
Great spot to eat and drink.
by tpangelinan about The Lazy Flamingo
Casual, great food, good seafood, and great service. The motto is teamwork at this restaurant. We had a great meal here. I had linguini with clam sauce, and had enough to eat it for lunch next day. Only downside, no salad with dinner. (We like them to 'throw' in a salad, and soup for free) Delaware restaurants have us spoiled.

Sanibel Island Lighthouse
by al_mary
First lit on August 20, 1884, the 98-foot tall
iron skeleton tower closely resembles the
current Cape San Blas lighthouse tower.
Both towers have a central spiral staircase
beginning about 10 feet above the ground.
