Causway Beaches
The views are great no matter what beach you go to! Beaches are not cut off and owned by private sector like in some beach towns.
You can drive right up to the water here. Picnic in your car, with great ocean view.

To you who live there..........am thinking I need a trip to the warm, specifically FLA and am looking at the Naples/Sanibel area.
Have never been there but heard about a current problem with red algae and/or a red tide?
Is this a current problem and, if so, how would it affect a visit?
Thanks for any info.
Red tide still occurs. This is not actually a tidal problem it is an algae bloom.
The site this link is for give bloom updates for different regions.
The area you want to go to is lovely, my friend just returned from a terrific trip there.
I don't live on Sanibel, but I was just there this weekend.
There was a good deal of red algae on the beach this weekend.
I thought that Bowman's beach had a little bit less than the beach at the pier

Pack light PHULEEEZ! T-shirts, tight fitting halters and sandels acceptable most places anytime. All available on the island. Bring your fishing gear, buy a tube and stuff it with your light and shore rods. Fresh shrimp works best. Bait shops on island and there's lots of places to fish...hopefully yours will be bigger than mine....
Pretty little place with unique and tasty options for breakfast. I had a omelette with havarti dill, delicious! My husband loved his meal as well but I forget what he got.. Tables have glass tops with fossilized shells in them in attractive arrangements. Seems like a real mom and pop place, the people were so nice!
Abondanza, daza for sure. We sure were full when we left here. Good service too! Mike had Chicken Parm...$12.95, and I had the Grouper with Garlic Mashed Potatoes (the special that evening), it was $13.95. Excellent dinner, great service.
Take the drive or bike through the five mile long senic drive. There's many pull-over areas to photograph or fish but no swimming...unless of course you're not afraid of large unpredictable reptiles.
