MARRIOT'S SANIBEL HARBOUR RESORT & SPA

Wow! What can I say. The Marriot has really outdone itself when it comes to this property.
Although it can be expensive (up to $249.00/night) there are deals for up to $119.00/night if you catch them right.
We went on a 3 day working holiday photographing for Miami Dade county and had our room/meals comp'ed but the hotel was fully booked with very happy tourists.

Every night we'd go down to the private pier and watch the pods of dolphins which commonly play in the waves just outside the resort.

Unique Quality: With 3 pool - including one with giant outdoor theater for the kids, - snall private beach areas, private yacht for sunset cruises, jet ski rentals and fine restaurants - it is a great place for families, couples or singles alike.
Their spa and gym are also popular if you wish to keep in shape or pamper yourself.
We attended a convention and had the opportunity to participate in several events in several convention/meeting rooms. My personal favorite was in the Octogonal all glass room overlooking the beautiful views and sunset.

Additionally, the food we had was very good - albeit expensive as can be expected for this class of service.
Drinks at pool side were $10.00/up, sandwiches and appetizers were $15.00 & up, etc.

Every room overlooks the ocean & pool with large heavy hurricane glass sliding windows which open completely to a large balcony giving you an open room feel.
The beds were amongst some of the most comfortable I've slept in with goose down bed covers and pillows.
Large spacious bathrooms with separate basin/shower/tub combo.

The place to pamper yourself for sure.

Resort almost on Sanibel Island, should be closer

The hotel is more of a campus almost, with a few separate buildings and parking areas. If you are not in the main building, parking and getting around are a slight pain. Employees have golf carts but you don't!

We were in a side building, not as glamorous as main but we knew it would be that way. Still had great views and walked out to our own pool and jacuzzi. Rooms were clean and well-kept. Restaurant had good food and nice views on multiple levels but were pricey. There aren't any other restaurants conveniently located and it costs money to cross the bridge to Sanibel. This hotel is just on the mainland side (which makes the room rates cheaper) but then you have to pay $3 every time you want to cross over to the island.

We came here during the summer, which were off-season rates. Next time I come to Sanibel, I think it will be to a hotel on the island.

Unique Quality: Main building gorgeous, spa is gorgeous as well. They were renovating the tennis center and fitness facility when we were there. Also nice walking trails with boardwalks leading through the trees and around buildings.

Beautiful Resort on the intercoastal.

This resort offers many things - you can relax at the pool or in the bar, enjoy the spa or take the Sanibel Princess out on the water.

Unique Quality: Great view - nice pool area - very friendly staff.

where to stay ? questions about Sanibel Harbour Resort

by Crystall

I am planning on visiting a relative in Shell Point Village which is located in Ft. Myers, just before the Sanibel bridge. I have heard there is construction going on with the bridge. Has anyone stayed recently at the Sanibel Harbour Resort which is located just before the bridge? Is it noisy with the construction? Would the bridge construction make driving back and forth on the bridge difficult if staying on Sanibel. I love Sanibel and have been there many times. Just looking for a convienent and nice place to stay while visting. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

The causeway is open in both directions but there is construction around the tolls both area. You can check current status by going to www.mysanibel.com where the City of Sanibel posts road watch alerts on both island roads and the causeway.

I love Sanibel as well, but for a near term stay you might be better off at Sanibel Harbor due to the red drift algae problem plaguing both Sanibel and Ft Myers Beach. Captiva and Lovers Key seem to be mostly in good shape.

This is the most recent news I have.

I thought I would offer feedback on this property having been there is weekend. I did decide to book at the Sanibel Harbour resort even thought the reviews were a bit iffy. The location was perfect for what I was doing. I was very pleasantly suprised. The resort is beautiful and the pool is great. There is a shuttle bus to take you around as the property is very big. I would stay here again. Note, that there is not a walking beach at this property. There are a few sandy spots to put your toes in but if you are looking to walk the beach, you will be unhappy at this place. It does have very nice pools and a terrific view.
