Sanibel Inn November Weekend
by TripAdvisor Member Gypsy_W
The location of Sanibel Inn is excellent and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I stayed at a pool view room on the ground floor but I still had a portion of the gulf ocean view. The room is spacious and tastefully decorated, with coffee maker, microwave, and small frige which are more than enough for the weekend. The direct beach access added bonus points to the quite weekend getaway even more relaxing and romantic. The pool was just the right size and nice. The only drawbacks were the bar next to the pool (the food was not tasty at all) and the staff serviced the pool and bike rental areas).
The "Ellington" jazz restauarnt on property offers excellent food, entertainment, and service. A must try when you go to Sanibel Island if you like jazz music.
Sanibel Inn- Loved it!

I just went to the Sanibel Inn the week of 9 July, 2006. I loved it! I must say when we first drove up to the Inn we were a little skeptical because it doesn't look like your normal 'Holiday Inn' and the drive way was rocky, not paved, and the condo's looked a little dated. However, once we entered our two bedroom condo.... we were delighted!!! The condo was great, it was very clean and up-to-date. The kitchen appliances were up to date, marble/granite countertops; pergo wood flooring throughout the entire condo; nice dining and living room furniture. The bedrooms were spacious with one or two closets; the master bedroom had it's own spacious bathroom. Also, the condo had a screened in patio; where we ate breakfast every morning.
The beach was very nice. This time of year the beach was not crowded and it was very peaceful. Also, the pool was very nice and each morning at 8-10 am. no one was in the pool so you could take a dip all by yourself!!!
If you are looking for a leisure vacation...this is the spot! There aren't many activities and it is well secluded. There is no ATM on the grounds, and a rent-a-car is a must, if you want to get around. The staff was very, very, courteous and helpful on where to go and things to see. I plan to return next year!
great place!

we just got back from the sanibel inn and WOW, we loved it. this place is great, it's very quaint and the rooms have recently been renovated - comfy beds, great bedding, granite baths. etc. the pool is great, they even provide floats, etc. the walk to the beach is short and easy. we really loved this place and plan to go back with our kids - very family friendly...

I have just spent 10 days at the Sanibel Inn and it just doesn't get any better than this. The entire property has been totally renovated following Hurricane Charley and what was always very good has just got better. I stayed in one of the suites which had everything I could have asked for with views of the Gulf to take the breath away. There is direct beach access, beach loungers are free but umbrellas cost $5 a day. There is also a great pool bar and a good pool. In case this isn't enough the best restaurant on Sanibel (Ellington's) is on the property.
Most Beautiful Place on Earth

My family just reurned from a 6 night stay at the Sanibel Inn and we loved every minute of it! The island itself is very lush and tropical and extremely laid back. Every morning we watched the sunrise and then went for bike rides (bikes are free with your room and well worth it!) and then just relaxed on the beach lounge chairs (also included with the room) on the beach. The only bad thing was that we experienced "red tide" which is not pleasant because it kills the fish and leaves them on the beach. lucky for us we got there at the end of the red tide so it didnt not totally ruin our vacation. The one bedroom suite was very clean and beautiful. The hotel grounds are very tropical. We were disappointed in Captiva Cruises (took 2). We did not think they were init for you to enjoy your cruise - they just want to make money. This is a great island and I defiantley will go back!
A great place to visit

What a wonderful place to stay. We only had a short time on the island, and we were late getting in. The traffic on the mainland was murder, which made settling into our room even more enjoyable! We had the sliding doors facing the water open in Febuary!!
Our only complaint would be on the morning of our departure,we went for a walk on the beach around 8:30AM. We retuned to the room a little after 9 and there was a crib stashed just inside our door. Apparently the room was being set-up for the next clients even before our checkout! To make matters worse,We then went to breakfast at the Lighthouse restaurant (highly reccomended),and when we returned to the room, the front hall was then full of cleaning supplies, all well before the designated checkout time of 11 o'clock.
Next time I will utilize the "do not disturb" sign to try to ward off the overzealous cleaning crew...The key words being NEXT TIME!
We will return.

It is not a rating number, so don't worry that way. It is, probably, down the list because nobody has put a tip or recommendation on it, if you do when you come back it might go up the list
