Sweet Little Spot
Very sweet and intimate B & B just off the central area of Santa Fe. Great breakfast, yummy snacks, and well appointed rooms. The owners are charming and very helpful with shopping and entertainment. Overall this is a well kept and delightful place to stay.
We really should keep it a secret...
This is one of those places we would like to keep all for ourselves! Why spoil it by telling everyone how wonderful it is? So, you all have to promise to keep it a secret! First of all, don't be misled by their website which gives the impression that Four Kachinas is the overflow inn for El Farolito. Even though we never saw El Farolito, this has got to be the number one inn in Santa Fe. How could it be any better? Walter is the host par excellence. He knows so much about Santa Fe and will give you all sorts of advice on where to go and what to do, including the special events and activites going on at the time of your stay. (Ask about the bronze foundry!) He has made each of the rooms into his guests' personal Southwestern art gallery, filled with Kachina dolls, naturally, and rugs, paintings and bultos. He pays incredible attention to detail in his design. (See how many shades of paint color you can find in your room!) And, don't even get us started on the delicious breakfasts...all wonderfully prepared and hosted by the effervescent and charming Lisa. Two short blocks away are several restaurants and grown-up bars with excellent food, wine and margaritas. In fact, there is so much to see within walking distance that we would recommend staying for at least three days. What about high prices for art and crafts in Santa Fe? (You'll hear this comment all over the State.) Walt's partner Wayne, explained this well. It's true he said, and that's because the best art is to be found in Santa Fe where the best artists have access to a world class market. (The good news is that in Santa Fe the street vendors are regulated and monitored to ensure tourists are getting what they pay for.) No question about it, this is a first class place to stay. Shhhh.
We were supposed to stay at Four Kachinas in late October. The weekend before our stay, a dear friend died in a plane accident. We called the following Monday to cancel our reservation so we could attend the funeral and ask about having our deposit waived. We were told that under the circumstances, we would not lose our deposit and that we would be refunded. We were finally able to speak with an owner recently who told us that we were liable for our deposit regardless of what we had been told. I am angry that we were misled and further, that there was a complete lack of compassion for a true emergency, even with us providing advanced notice. I will never stay at Four Kachinas in the future and given their approach to customer service, would not recommend them to anyone else.
Four Kachinas is Home Away from Home
Walt Weis & Wayne Mainus are exceptional owners/innkeepers and they have made Four Kachinas a truly outstanding place to stay in Santa Fe. We have been there three times in this past year and will return there every time we are in Santa Fe. Walt has spent considerable time visiting with us and discussing numerous topics of interest to both him and us. He and Wayne work very hard to make this a great place to call home while in SF.
Lisa, who serves breakfast most mornings, also does the cooking. Her food is wonderful and she too is quite the gracious host. Lisa has made us feel very welcomed and has become a friend. She has taken considerable time to get us whatever info we are looking for, and she is a fantastic conversationalist.
We will return to Four Kachinas again and again, and look forward to it each time.
Thanks Walt, Wayne, & Lisa for the wonderful hospitality.

The Four Kachinas Inn offers a wonderful and truly Santa Fe visit. It is first class all the way. It is very conveniently located; within walking distance of the plaza, galleries and restaurants. It is warm, inviting and private just the same. It is beautifully decorated. The service is excellent.
The owners have exquisite taste. I highly recommend Four Kachinas Inn.
A charming bed and breakfast in Santa Fe
We spent two nights at Four Kachinas Inn in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Four Kachinas greatly exceeded our expectations making our days in Santa Fe a memorable time for us. The staff was extemely helpful, genuine, and informed. The recommendations that we received on restaurants and events in town were excellent. The room that we stayed in was well appointed in a Spanish colonial motif. Housekeeping was impeccable. The food and coffee served by Four Kachinas was plentiful and delicious. All in all, Four Kachinas Inn is a great place to stay within easy walking distance of the heart of a wonderful city.
The Four Kachinas is our favorite place to stay in Santa Fe. Our room was very comfortable, quiet at night, and just a short walk to the best restaurants and attractions in Santa Fe. The facility is nicely decorated, well maintained, and spotless. The breakfasts were among the best we've had in the US and Europe. We met one of the owners (Walt), who was a real pleasure. Highly recommended.
worth a repeat stay
This is a warm friendly place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, colorful, and all the art is a real treat. The breakfast was delicious. I felt pampered the whole time. The host was open, friendly and most welcoming.
We stayed at the Four Kachinas Inn for five nights this past January -- and loved it! The Inn is very well situated, within walking distance of Canyon Road and downtown Sante Fe. The room we stayed in was tastefully decorated in Sante Fe adobe style, with Native American rugs and Kachinas. It was spacious, quiet, and very well kept. The bed was comfortable and the bath was beautiful. Outside all the rooms is a courtyard with chairs for conversation and reading. (It was a bit warm this past January, so we were able to sit outside and take advantage of it.) Across the courtyard is the lounge and dining room, which was very cozy and a place where guests congregated for afternoon snacks. Breakfasts, which were very good, were served in this room. The Inn also has a hot tub, which was welcome after a day of art-shopping. The owners of the Inn made us feel very comfortable and were quite helpful with dinner choices and other arrangements. The service overall was attentive and cordial. I would return and I highly recommend Four Kachinas.
