Siesta Key Drum Circle
by grasshopper_6
March to the beat of a different drummer? Check out the Siesta Key Sunday drum circle. Every Sunday about an hour before sunset, people start showing up on the beach with drums. The drumming starts quietly, with just a handful of players, but by sunset there are usually scores of people playing drums and other assorted percussion instruments. Pick up the beat and groove, or bring your own drum and participate. Dancing juggling, ceremonial fires and sometimes even street performers combine to create a very festival sort of atmosphere. Come early. During busier times of they year, I have seen several hundred people here, and parking can be scarce.
Just be at the Siesta Key Public Beach Pavillion about one hour before sunset on any given Sunday. Watch for musicians arriving with their drums, or just listen for the sound.

Siesta Key Beaches
by radiominor
Siesta Key is a vibrant place where the white sandy beaches are inches away, and where the quaint Siesta Village offers a myriad of places to eat, shop and relax. Bring your sunscreen, your wallet/pocket book, and a smile. There is a great deal to do!
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
by tampa_shawn
Wonderful waterfront gardens and grounds that are very well maintained. My favorite areas include the orchid house - the orchids are amazing and they had quite a few exotics that I had never seen before. I also really enjoyed the mangrove area and the mansion.
The gift shop is also amazing. They have a large Garden shop that features many of the orchids and other plants that are on display in the gardens.
Oh and there is the Koi pond, banyan grove, canopy walkways, succulent and wild flower gardens, palm grove, fragrance gardens, bamboo forest….
Oh heck it was all good - plan on spending about 2 - 3 hours there
On my last visit I took tons of pictures of the grounds. The center is also a respected center of tropical plant research and education.
Selby Gardens is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Christmas.
Adults $12, Children 6-11 $6, Members Free.
