What a wonderful surprise! I got an email from staying at one of this hotel's sister properties, the Jupiter Beach Resort on the East coast and it offered me a $50 voucher to try it out. We booked a gulfview room and the view of the water was spectacular. Sunsets are superb from the balcony. The staff was super friendly and great with tips on the area. Our room was tastefully appointed and had a full kitchen to boot. We didn't use it other than the fridge but it is very well equipped if you were the eat in type or just like to keep plenty of things on hand for snacks and drinks. The first night we took their shuttle (free) to St Armands circle as we didn't want to drink and drive. The restaurant choices are many but we settled on the Crab and Fin from the concierge's suggestion and it was sublime. Afterwards we walked the circles' many shops and stopped in a few different places for a cocktail or two. The second night we dined at the hotel restaurant Christopers. The view alone would be worth the experience at its on the top floor of the hotel but the food here was excellent also. The beach is perfect, the crowds small, and the entire experience memorable. I highly recommend this hotel as we'll definitely be back.

Unique Quality: Two great pools, multiple jacuzzi's, a Tiki Bar, and being right on the beach were all we needed. Close proximity to St Armands Circle and the free shuttle filled out our dance card. Fitness Center was more than adequate, free wireless, and a gift shop. A great walkable beach and a great walkable neighborhood!

Directions: Straight through St Armands Cicle towards the gulf. Located directly on Lido Beach.

See a sunset at Lido Beach. Stroll St. Armand's Circle enjoying a delicious ice cream. Enjoying the great weather and wonderful beaches. Siesta Beach has the softest and whitest sand of any beach.

Go to Lido beach, it's gorgeous. There are boardwalks and fabulous golden, clean sand. Watch for stingrays if you swim in the Gulf of Mexico. Collecting lovely shells with the kids to take home with us and then leaving them behind when we stopped at the taps to wash off our feet. Doh!

lido beach is a beautiful white sand beach on the gulf of mexico. the water of the gulf is relatively warm year round and the gulf's gentle waves make it an excellent place for bathing. this public beach is just a couple of blocks from st. armands circle. limited parking is free.

Loved This Hotel!

We just stayed at this hotel during pre Labor Day week. I have to say after reading some of the negative reviews on here I was a little worried. When we got there it was very nice we stayed at the smaller tower overlooking the pool and ocean. The room had a small kitchen and super clean room. The area was superb we travel every year to Florida and usually stay on Clearwater beach well lets just say night and day if you like a nice and clean beach great for the family or a couples getaway with cute restaurants and small little stores Lido beach is the place.

The Hotel is pretty close to the beach so your walking to the water is very little. We stayed last year at the Sheraton on Clearwater beach WOW what a walk and it was on the beach.

to answer some of the bad reviews on here. Some one wrote that no one maintained the pool. well while you were sleeping at 8:30 am they cleaned it. everyday I was there I sat out on our balcony reading the newspaper and watched them clean and maintain the pools and the spas.

someone also wrote that the rooms were outdated maybe they updated them right after you left because our room which was on the older side was very well updated and very clean.

one more thing if you stay there get the beach view its awesome 2 times while we were there we watched a group of Dolphins swim by and get very close to shore great site.

The restaurant Christopher’sin the South Tower 8th floor is very nice with great views but very pricey.

Best large hotel in area.

Stayed during and after Memorial Day weekend. Staff was very friendly and suprisingly professional. Pools clean and the beach steps away and also clean and beautiful. Only large hotel directly on the beach and very well maintained. Stayed in less expensive main building and was pleased with how clean it was. Fully equipped mini kitchen with stove, utensils, microwave, reefer, and dishwasher was great bonus. Will definitely stay here again. I am a frequent traveler and I work in the hospitality industry (for a no less prestigious hotel chain). Two thumbs up!

Spectacular Vacation Resort

by A TripAdvisor Member

I have NEVER been treated so well by any hotel staff in 20 years of business travel. I wanted for nothing, and had a spectacular view of the Gulf of Mexico from my room/balcony. Christopher's, the restaurant in the hotel is WONDERFUL, with it's aquariums, city view, and truly delicious food. A MUST TRY! Then, take a jet ski out in the Gulf where you are likely to see pods of dolphins, usually in the early morning. Just talk to Jeri or any of the other Front Desk staff - They can tell you what there is to do around town, so you are free to experience all of Sarasota. VERY NICE place. Thank you, Radisson. I will be returning.

This is not a resort!

My husband and I, along with our two children, ages 11 and 14, spent 8 days in Florida in April.
We stayed at the Radisson for four of those days. After spending 4 days at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, the Radisson was a huge disappointment.
I booked the 3 story building on the internet for $237 per night (we were there over Easter). We arrived at 10:30 at night and had to haul our own luggage up to the room. This building is an old-style motel building with all outside doors and mostly side views of the ocean. The room was marginal. It had two queen beds, a small kitchenette with peeling laminate cabinets and a very small bathroom, with rusty door stoppers. As in old motels, it had a window heating and air conditioning unit. I knew immediately that we would not feel comfortable staying in this room. I went to the front desk and got keys to look at rooms in the newer tower building. Luckily they did have some vacancies, but I ended up paying $115 more per night ($352 per night with AAA discount) The room was ocean front, much, much larger, very clean, and had a nice-sized bathroom. This building also has inside doors, like a hotel. We ate breakfast several mornings at the small coffee shop which was located in the 3 story building. It looked dirty with stains on the walls and old carpet. However, friends came down from Tampa one evening and we ate at Christophers in the tower and it was a lovely evening. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was nice, and there was a magician traveling from table to table for entertainment. If you are used to staying at very nice resorts with lots of amenities, this hotel is not for you. If you are looking for a beach-front hotel with a swimming pool and a bar, you will find it to be OK. I personally have stayed at much nicer resorts for less money.

Satisfied Overall - Would Stay Again

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here over July 4th weekend. Location of room was not as described at time of reservation. However, we were generally satisfied with accommodations. Hotel overall very attractive, clean and well maintained. Service excellent. Location is great. Very close to St. Armands. Nice beach. Kids program was lame. Did not live up to description on hotel's web site. Kids loved the pools and beach though. We would stay here again.

July 4th options?

by tartanboro

I'll be on holiday early July nearby Sarasota for a few days with my family and friends. Anyone got any suggestions for organised July 4th celebrations?

Re: July 4th options?

by sarasotalarson

4th of July is a fantastic celebration in Sarasota!

The 2010 Suncoast Grand Prix (http://www.suncoastoffshore.org/) celebration takes place all weekend culminating with the high-speed boat races at Lido Beach on Lido Key. Great time every year!!!

Also, fireworks downtown (they close off 41) and fireworks on Siesta Key Beach (the #2 beach in the country - I don't know why we're not #1).

Good Luck and Have Fun!
