guide needed

by bobatfuntastic

I have a client who will be in Sarasota on April 17, 2005. She doesn't drive, but wants to take a tour of the Sarasota area. She needs someone to spend the day driving her to both locations and back. We will pay for your time and driving expenses. (While it is not necessary for the guide to accomopany her on the tours, you would be welcome to do so at your own expense.) Please let me know what you would charge (and whether you would like to take the tours too. If so, I'll make the reservations at the same time I make hers).

Travel Tips for Sarasota

Sarasota is packed with...

by buzzz

Sarasota is packed with museums, art galleries, theatres, it even has it's own ballet. A lot of the museums, roads, buildings etc. are named after John Ringling of the Ringling Bros Circus. Sarasota is where the Circus people hang out in the winter, apparently!

Don't miss the Grille!

by HotSpotJ about Bonefish Grille

Yes, this is a franchised restaurant, but the entree's here are delicious!! If you're in town, you'll have to check this place out, and being on Tamiami Trail (41) its very convenient to those who stay on the key. Tip: Make reservations as this is a very popular place, especially on the weekends. I'm always a big fan of the Mahi Mahi

Sarasota Greek

by sarahjayn about El Greco

El Greco is authentic greek food in a pretty nice setting. There's not much for vegetarians here, but they will work with you. (Be careful - the Greek Salad has sardines in the dressing . . . that's the "real" way to make it.)
My friends say that the lamb is the best here. You can eat a meal here or just come for coffee and dessert. The desserts here are all amazing.

by tampa_shawn

Thanks to the Ringley (as in Ringley Brothers Barnum Bailey Circus) families infusion of money into the local community Sarasota has a wonderful array of art and culture available for such a small town. So much so that Sarasota is known as Floridia's Cultural Coast including:

Professional symphony, ballet and opera

More than 10 theaters and 30 art galleries

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is Florida's State Museum
Incredible - this has it's on tip

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, known for its architecture and great acoustics, seats 1,700

Sarasota Opera house - one of the top rated opera houses in the US - If you have never been to an opera this is a wonderful place to see your first.
