Relocating To Sarasota

by guitarlife

Hi, My wife and I will be relocating to Sarasota within the next year
and wanted to find out a few things from anyone who lives or has lived
in Sarasota.

1) Would like to find a really awesome church, great and accurate
teaching and youthful worship.
2) Anyone know a great guitar teacher hopefully with some schooling
from a place like Berkeley, more rock/alternative style.
2) Does anyone know a good commercial real estate person, will be
relocating my business and need a cool spot.
3) How is the jet skiing, any places to launch and are the beaches
motorized.
4) Best neighborhoods around?

I really appreciate any of you giving your opinion and info. I hope to
meet some really cool people when we move as things in Fort Lauderdale
have not click for me. Can't wait to move out of this town and get
back on the west coast of Florida.

bird key, you could hang with jerry springer. more reisdential and less tourist. long boat key, more tourist and short term residences and vacation. ana maria island, more laid back and goofey. stay west of the trail. as to church, duh, what religion? Lutheran? catholic? bah'i? Hindu? i could go on and on. no motor beaches. lots of rich people. great places to eat! the beach house, anna marie island. the columbian, st armands circle in longboat. phillipe creek for sea food. you did not mention your type of business, because different types of business types belong in different places. sarasota has a lot of things to do in the arts and music venues. don't think a lot of berkley type of stuff. because it is fairley stuffy. let me know how it goes.

Hi-
I have lived in Sarasota for 4 yrs now. The beaches are great, and jet skiing is good throughout. There are a lot of public launches. I have just gotten out of the Real Estate business, but I will recommend the Lakewood Ranch area to you, as well as Gulf Gate. They are both fabulous neighborhoods in great school districts. I have worked with a lot of real estate agents, but the one I would suggest is Sally Voorhees P.A. She is honest and has a strong conviction. I trust her and she is very good at what she does. Her number is 941-350-4900 or you can email her at SallyLenz@hotmail.com. Just mention my name and she will take the best care of you and your family.
I hope you decide Sarasota is the place for you, we love it here.
I hope this was helpful!
All my best,
Tanya Lankford

Travel Tips for Sarasota

THE BROWN PELICAN

by LoriPori

A wonderful bird is the Pelican
His bill will hold more than his belican
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week
But I'm darned if I see how the helican
This humorous verse was by Dixon L. Merritt.

The Pelican is among the most ancient of earth's living creatures. There are a number of Pelican species in the world, but there are two distinct types in America. The one common in this area of Florida is the BROWN PELICAN. A very graceful bird when in flight, he looks quite clumsy when waddling across a beach or a dock, like this fellow in my pic.
I have always been fascinated with Pelicans. I'm always asking Hans to film them while in flight and as they dive bomb into the water to catch a fish. The Pelican uses his large beak/bill together with his pouch as a hand to feed itself- - perhaps the most effective fishing net in the world. Pelicans have a unique fishing technique. When it dives, it gulps fish and water into the pouch (up to seventeen pints of water is gulped in ) and when it surfaces, water is drained by compression through the tip of the bill, leaving the fish inside. Amazing isn' t it!!!

by doug48 about tommy bahama's

tommy bahama's is a combination clothing store and restaurant. tommy bahama's offers a relaxed, elegant, caribbean atmosphere. the cuisine is american with a tropical accent. good food moderately priced. besure to check out their clothing store for florida casual apparel. reservations recommended during the winter tourist season.

Anna Maria Island

by noidiotsplease

Anna Maria is a charming island getaway located along the Central Gulf Coast of Florida, but it feels much more like the Florida Keys in character. Here, you won't find any highrises (unlike the beaches of Tampa/St. Petersburg to the north) or snooty private golf course condominium developments (unlike neighboring Longboat Key to the south), but you will find uncrowded beaches, small but attractive "mom and pop" accommodations and a casual island town atmosphere that set it a world apart. The entire island is split into the three small beach communities of Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach

The northernmost of the Sarasota-Bradenton metropolitan area beaches, Anna Maria Island is nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway, due west of the city of Bradenton.

Circus museum

by eugini2001

In 1948 the Ringlings Museum of Circus was established in the original garage on the propety. You feel as if you are behind the circus scenes:costumes, props, circus wagons! I liked mini-circus it looked like a doll play house, but every single figure moved & talked! My daugter liked just because of kid's room they have over there at the museum. They have these funny mirrors that make your reflection different from different poin-thiner or fatter, shorter or taller!
