steinhatchee is a historic fishing village near the gulf of mexico. steinhatchee, pronounced (steenhatchee) was developed in the 1800's. the main reason to visit steinhatchee is it's excellent fishing and crabbing. also there are hunting and wildlife watching opportunities nearby. steinhatchee has a decent motel, a couple of good restaurants, and a bar. steinhatchee is an interesting "off the beaten path" place to visit in southeast taylor county.
