Crowne Plaza Tampa Westshore
The Crowne Plaza Tampa Westshore, formerly a run down Ramada or some such obsolete chain, has been remade into a great, modern hotel. It is located at the western end of Kennedy Avenue, just before the Howard Frankland bridge that takes you to Clearwater and the other nearby beaches (use caution; if you leave the hotel and turn right, you might get stuck going over the long 3+ mile bridge over the Tampa Bay).
The hotel has free Wi-Fi access, an outdoor pool, 24-hour fitness center, a business center, on-site dining and bar, and 9,000 sq ft of event space. The majority of the rooms are in the main tower, but the hotel offers a number of huge suites on the ground floor next to the swimming pool. My favorite feature is the fountain next to the lobby, with a few comfortable couches... a great place to relax.
The hotel has very easy access to I-275 and Veterans Expressway. Guests can also easily walk to the Westshore mall, only a hundred yards away, or so. The hotel is just 2 miles from the airport and 6 miles from downtown Tampa. A free shuttle van can take guests within three miles of the hotel, which includes the airport, the Westshore Mall, and the International Plaza mall.
