We are going on a cruise and my husband's parents are driving from Estero, Florida to see us when we fly into Tampa. Want to find a restaurant near the airport that we can plan to meet them at for lunch.
The International Mall is quite close to Tampa Intl Airport and they have a lot of differnt restaurants.
There are restaurants near West Shore Plaze and located along Dale Mabry Hwy that'd be convenient
not sure if u have time, but, check out the DALI museum in tampa area
My Tampa page has (kind of) a lot of restaurants listed. La Columbia is totally where I would take someone to get the Tampa taste down. The Colonade and Ceviche are good as well. Tampa has a lot of great places to eat.

I'm assuming you're taking the cruise ship out of Tampa in which case the Cruise Terminal area itself has some great restaurants. The area is called channelside and it is only a few years old. very cool place. go to www.channelside.com which will give you the lowdown on the restaurants there. You'll be looking right at your ship as you eat.
One evening we decided to go fishing off a dock in the Intracoastal Waterway, and we were happy to see two dolphins frolicking the in water. For 20 or 30 minutes they swam around, but never coming closer than 50 feet or so to shore. They were very easy to spot in the calm water with the late afternoon reflections making the surface look like glass.
In the Tampa area you can go on dolphin cruises and even swim with the dolphins at Sea World.
Each year the New York Yankees hold spring training at Tampa's Steinbrenner Field, previously called Legends Field. The field was constructed in 1996 just across the street from Raymond James Stadium and is also the home of the minor league Class A Tampa Yankees.
Tickets for New York Yankees spring training games range from $17 to $25 and tickets for the Tampa Yankees are $3 or $5. This stadium seats 10,000 and lies next to the airport.
Just a few blocks away is another Yankees field called Yankees Complex, which is home to the Rookie League Gulf Coast League Yankees.
tarpon springs is an interesting side trip from the tampa-clearwater area. tarpon springs is a greek sponge fishing village that is famous for it's collection of greek restaurants. this small west florida town has much to offer the tourist. see my tarpon springs pages for more information. from downtown tampa take US 60 west to clearwater. then take US 19 ALT north past dunedin to tarpon springs.
