Nice Location for South Tampa Access
I'm a fan of La Quinta hotels in general, but this one is quite nice. Rooms are large and contain a small refrigerator and microwave. All La Quinta's offer free WiFi as well as breakfast. Animals are allowed (good since I had to bring my cats).
This particular La Quinta also boasts a small fitness facility (treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical) as well as business center with computer and printer access.
The location is on Gandy, near the Gandy bridge. It offers great access to South Tampa and is not far from MacDill Air Force Base.
The service was great. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Unique Quality: Outdoor pool is nice on a hot Tampa afternoon.

La Quinta Tampa South
I have long been a fan of La Quinta Hotels for a quality room at a good rate. Now that I know they allow pets in the room at no additional cost, I am an even bigger fan. Normal rates at this La Quinta in a pretty good, central location in South Tampa run about 100 dollars a night, but stay multiple week nights and your rate drops to 80 dollars before taxes. Add two cats and a second adult to your room... still just 80 dollars!
The hotel has free wi-fi, free parking, a pool, a small fitness center, a business center, and free breakfast. The rooms here are well-equipped with desks, microwaves, refrigerators, irons, small TVs, and alarm clocks.
Maybe the only negative is the lack of good restaurants within walking distance... well, there is a Hooters just to blocks away!! Other than that it is mostly fast food like McDonalds, Burger King, Sonic, and Dunkin Donuts.
