12.3 miles of trails live oaks, hickory trees and sabal palms, lining the Hillsborough River. River Rapids Nature Trail is 1.2 miles and wheelchair and stroller accessible in some areas. The 3.4-mile Florida Trail goes along the river & into the woods. 1.1-mile Baynard Trail features a boardwalk segment with views of the river. 1.6-mile Wetlands Restoration Trail is for hikers and bikers, winding through woods of oaks, hickory and pine trees. It connects with the 5-mile-long Fort King Trail.
Friendship TrailBridge
Begin at the foot of the old Gandy Bridge on the Tampa side, or on the Pinellas County side
2.6-mile trail over Tampa Bay to see boats, dolphins and shorebirds. OK for walkers, bikers, joggers and skaters.
Bayshore Boulevard Greenway
Bayshore Boulevard, lined on one side by mansions and on the other by a 4.5-mile sidewalk running along Tampa Bay. Walkers, joggers, skaters and people pushing baby carriages and walking dogs. Drinking fountains and benches line the seawall in spots.
Suncoast Parkway Trail
Paved trail stretches 41.3 miles through Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando counties. Trailheads are situated along the Suncoast Parkway at Lutz Lake Fern Road, State Road 54 and other places. (see www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide/regions/westcentral/trails/suncoast.htm for all the trailhead locations). Walkers, bikers and rolllerbladers allowed. Rest areas feature interpretive signs identifying native plants.
