Fred Howard Park hides far...
by Tolik
Fred Howard Park hides far from the mainstream in Tarpon Springs, but is the best beach in this parts that is accessible from the mainland. Howard Park offers both beach and wooded areas. The beautifully canopied grounds are favorite for picnickers. A mile long causeway delivers you to a sandy beach on the island (free parking, restrooms, picnic tables, showers).
Greek sponge diving town

"Things I enjoyed"
We visited two main areas in Tarpon Springs...the antique district and the tourist area. Major difference between the two areas, with both having their unique charm.
Tourist area: same stuff in every shop. What's unique in Tarpon Springs vs. other tourist areas is the sponges and the soaps, and lots of Greek food options (restaurants and bakeries). We love Mykonos Greek restaurant. Be sure to try the Greek potatoes. O-pa!
Antique area has a lot of big antique stores in a historic district. Lots of interesting items to explore.
Tarpon Springs Sponge Boat
by rw-bigfoot
We spent a few hours in this tourist town. Took a ride on the sponge boat, wasn't really worth it. They took you out about 500 feet to an area that they had already put sponges down in and then a sponge diver in a diving suit went down and retrieved it! The little shops had alot of Greek foods and such. The greek food smelled wonderful! Here's their web site Tarpon Springs
