Fabuous Beach Getaway!

by TripAdvisor Member IndianaTrueBlue

As a single mother of two planning a beach vacation miles away, you can imagine it was no easy task. I researched many other hotels in the Treasure Island/St. Pete beach area, only to find that they were mostly older property's with small rooms. You can imagine my excitement when I came across Sunset Vistas and found that not only did they have two bedroom and three bedroom's but that each room had a kitchen and dining room. I then contacted the hotel and was shocked at their amazing rates. So myself, my mother, and my two daughters booked the room and headed on our way. The hotel is gorgeous, and their website with it's virtual tours really does it justice. I checked in to my room feeling happy that I had gotten exactly what I booked. The hotel staff was friendly and recomended fun things to do and see in the area. I must also note that I have read some of the other reviews about the hotel and while many of them are quite good the more negative ones are a little dissapointing. The comments about housekeeping are quite funny considering that people were complaining about not having daily housekeeping, when their website clearly say's weekly service. Not to mention who needs housekeeping when you have a washer and dryer in the room along with a dishwasher. My biggest recommendation about this hotel and any hotel is do your research, call the hotel with questions and you will never be dissapointed. Sunset Vistas was a great vacation and I will defiantly be back soon!

Great Time

Returned from 5 days at Sunset Vistas, family of 5 kids 14, 12 and 10. It was great, a beautiful spot. The pool is very nice and the beach beautiful and just a few steps from the hotel. The rooms were fine -- clean but I guess not spotless. We felt comfortable though. Great to have kitchen and washer/dryer. The balconies are wonderful - left the door open to hear the ocean while we slept! Staff helpful. We needed sheets and an extra blanket for the pull out bed, just went to the office and picked them up right away. The pull out couch bed is not the best, but o.k. for a child. We put an extra blanket between the mattress and fitted sheet and this helped. Our daughter slept fine on it -- tired by the end of the day!! Great place, we would definietly like to go again. Would help to bring an over the door hook -- not hooks on the back of bathroom doors -- run out of spots to hang towels, swim suits..

Great for families

Just returned from Sunset Vistas. Ok, here's my thoughts. Overall, a great place for families. Set-up of the rooms is quite nice - - good to have two bedrooms with doors to close. Kitchen well stocked with necessities. As far as cleanliness, I agree with other comments that this place could use a better housekeeping staff. If you go, plan on having black feet in your room and giving the room a good cleaning upon arrival. They really need to clean the floors at least bi-weekly or once a month.

Also, plan on bringing stuff like - - laundry soap, dishwasher soap, dishsoap, cleanser since they don't supply it (well at least our room
didn't anyway)...

Beach access was super. Kids pool is great because it's only 1 1/2 ft deep so it's wonderful for toddlers. Adult pool looked very crowded at all times so we never got over there.

The ground floor parking ramp was a little disconcerning as you had to be careful when you walked to the pools or beachfront as cars pulled in and out of the place in high-traffic walking areas.
With two toddlers it made me a little nervous at times.

Overall, a nice place and we really enjoyed our stay - - partly because the weather was absolutely perfect. The management or owners would be best served by keeping the rooms a bit cleaner - - if they don't, this place will get run-down fast.

I agree with the last review...this place is great if you know what to expect.

The kitchen is fully furnished and there are a couple of extra pillows, but no one is going to make your bed for you each morning or replace the wee basket of initial toiletries on the sink. The Sunset is run like a condo - not a hotel - and so long as you're expecting to pick up after yourself, it is a great deal.

I didn't see another place in the area that looked quite as nice either. The location is perfect, and even if you don't score a great view you are still just steps away from the beach. Loads of restaurants are within a mile in either direction and you can easily make your way up to St. John's for the shopping.

The Sunset is great for groups or families with kids -- anyone who would make good use out of the kitchen and doesn't want to haul a bunch of stuff miles out to the beach. I can't quite see honeymooning here but if you're not looking for swank furnishings and cocktail service by the pool, you'll probably have a great stay.

Escaped the snow!

Looking for a condo with all the things we were looking for...2 bedrooms with 2 baths, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, right on the beach....this was it! Yes, there was construction around but really didn't bother us.......as far as location, it isn't far to drive to Tampa, Clearwater, Bradenton, etc.........the staff seemed very nice and when we asked for something, we got it. As far as the cafe-convenience store, it is not a fully stocked store but if you need small personal items such as toothbrushes etc. or laundry soap, that is what they have and the cafe is not open after 5 but everyone usually goes out to eat somewhere else anyway or you can hit the grocery store and stock up on a few things like we did! We would stay again with no problem!
