Wonderful stay at Disney's Vero Beach Resort
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Vero Beach Resort in August right before the hurricanes decided to blow through Florida. I just wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful place Vero Beach turned out to be. It was wonderfully quiet and subdued. The perfect getaway after 4 days at Disneyworld! The food was fantastic, and although the beach was small, it was secluded and quiet. Our daughter participated in the children's outing one evening so my husband and I could have a quiet romantic dinner and a beautiful stroll on the beach. She had a fantastic time and couldn't stop talking about all the things that the children did. We will definitely stay there on our next family vacation.
Exceeded our Family's Expectations

Disney's Vero Beach resort exceeded our family's every expectation. After traveling three days to Florida and driving through pounding rainstorms, Disney's Vero Beach Resort was a little piece of heaven.
We stayed in a two bedroom villa overlooking the pool and miniature golf area. The villa had three baths, two balcony's to relax and look at the stars on, Washer and Dryer, and the kithchen and living rooms were fully equiped with small appliances and a playstation for the kids.
The calm evening breezes and lazy walks on the pristine beach were just what we needed to wind down and relax before going to the theme parks. The villa was immaculate and the character breakfast was the perfect way to make my three kids stop arguing and get into the "Disney state of mind". I would do it again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend it to others.
It's true that there are no chain restaurants nearby and things do cost more on site, but it's worth every penny. If you decide to go off site for food, the local restaurants and the local atmosphere are better than any chain restaurant.
I also have to add that the children's activities in the community room are fantastic. My 8-14 year old children all met new people and experienced new things by getting to know other children in the community room setting.
What a wonderful laidback resort!

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. The studio rooms are large with 2 queen beds and a table, plus the kitchenette (like at their Old Key West resort) plus large balconies. Because the property is so narrow, if you have an ocean view, you can hear the waves crashing on the shore from your room - how wonderful! The beach was dramatically changed by the hurricane and while some may mourn the loss of the dunes, it is now a wide beach with the softest sand and great shelling (not like Sanibel but still good). We loved swimming and their was a beach rental concession with boogey boards, jet skis and the like. Our only complaint was that Shutters, the main restaurant for the three meals, was inconsitent and had reconstituted orange and grapefruit juice, although the orchards were within a mile of the hotel. It is only 8 miles with only three traffic lights to get to downtown Vero Beach, roughly 15 minutes door to door, for some great food at the Lemon Tree or Ocean Grille, so don't fear venturing out. The kids loved the slide and the kids programs. While we did not go to see the Dodgers or fish, many guests raved about it. We will return.
Beautiful Vero, beautiful resort!

We just returned from a vacation in Florida - two of our days spent at the Disney Vero Beach Resort. The only negative is the fact we were only there for 2 days. What a great resort!!!! Vero Beach was so nice!!!!! It was a quiet, clean resort. Although they told us the resort was completely full - you would never know it being at the pool or the beach. It was not crowded in the least!!!!
We were supposed to travel to this resort in October but it was closed due to the hurricane damage. Well, we could see the damage that took place but it wasn't anything that was a turn-off. We were told by a "cast member" that there was some extensive damage but yoiu really could not tell. The boardwalk was wiped out - they were in the process of rebuilding it while we were there and I guess quite a bit of landscaping (palm trees) was uprooted. But it still looked BEAUTIFUL!!!! WHAT A CLEAN RESORT!!! Everything about it was clean which was so comforting.
We traveled with our two daughters (2, 4) and they LOVED IT!!!! We put our 4 year old daughter in two programs which were "perfect." To this day she talks about her friend "Sean," one of the cast members.
We stayed in an inn room - nice and clean - the beds were SO COMFORTABLE!!! and it is a great perk to have the free laundry right there!!!
Meals were good. We ate at Shutters a few times and one night at Sonya's. The meal at Sonya's was excellent! Great specials, good wine list, nice atmosphere!!!! Our waitress was VERY FRIENDLY and good!!! Another plus is that you get a 10% discount on Wednesday nights if you are a club member!!!
The beach was beautiful, quiet and fun for all!!!! The water was a bit chilly but you got used to it pretty quickly. We had beautiful weather during the day but it did get a bit chilly at night.
The pool was great!! I did not do the slide but lots of people did and it seemed as if they had a blast. I spent more time in the kiddie area - the pirate ship that had fountains of water and a slide - my kids loved it!!!! It was never crowded and lots of fun.
We hope to go back again, but this time rent one of the beach houses on the beach!!!!!!!!!! AND STAY FOR A LONGER TIME!!!!!!!
Relaxing stay

We stayed at Disney's Vero Beach Resort March 12-16, 2005. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen, washer and dryer with a garden view. The rooms were very clean, no ants. I suggest setting up a time for housekeeping to come so you won't be bothered.
The beach entrance was being rebuilt due to huricane damage so there was a longer walk down to the beach. They still have a nice sized beach with lots of sea shells. The pool chairs fill up fast so get down to the pool early and throw your towels over the chairs to reserve them. Lots of activities for children.
The restuarant food was good, a little pricey, as was the resort store. There are no stores or fast food places near the resort so you have to drive about 20 minutes into town. One night we ate at the Ocean Grille and it was delicious! There is a grocery store and a Walmart in town if you'd like to save $.
Internet access was also pricey, $5.00 for 30 minutes. I have stayed at other resorts and had unlimited access for $10 a day.
I also would have liked to bring my dog along on our trip.
Over all we had a very nice relaxing stay there and I would definitely go back again.
Very Enjoyable

We stayed for 3 nights in June 2004 and found the resort to very enjoyable and family-friendly. The pool and activities were great because there is not much else to do in this area. The rooms were nice and the housekeeping did little extras like folding the towels into a bunny rabbit and other animals. The only negatives was the Shutters restaurant- very overpriced with mediocre food and service. $2.29 for a cup of milk and another $7 for a PB&J with grapes was ridiculous! There are several good restaurants in Sebastian and Vero Beach, but they are about 15 min away. The recreation people were fantastic and we would return here.
We like going to Disney's Vero Beach.

Here is a picture of the front of the hotel. It is well hidden from the highway with large growths of plants.
This is a picture of the back of the main building. There are several more detached buildings that are mostly used by vacation club members I think.
Inside the front doors you enter the lobby where you check in. Sonya's is off to the right down a hallway.
This is another view of the back of the hotel from the boardwalk that goes out to the ocean. It is really a lovely place to go to relax.
This is a view of the ocean from the bar/patio that is located in the center of the main building and on the second floor.
Vero Beach, Florida
by noidiotsplease
Geographically you could argue that Vero Beach is where South Florida begins; however, it is a far cry from the densely populated high rise cities that stretch along much of the South Florida coast. The city boasts two small, low rise downtown areas (one beachside and one mainland) offering an array of boutiques. In addition, the city has the upscale Indian River Mall and an outlet mall at the western edge of town by the interstate.
While the beach is a bit narrower than many others in Florida, the small boardwalk with its conveniently located ice cream shop makes for a nice afternoon stroll.
Disney's Vero Beach Resort is an oceanfront companion to the fantasy resorts located about three hours northwest in Walt Disney World.

According to the airport web site (http://www.mlbair.com/index.html) the following company provides shuttle van service to the port:
The Melbourne Airport Shuttle offers door-to-door pickup service, with special rates for destinations such as Port Canaveral and Disney's Vero Beach resort.
Call for information at (321) 724-1600 Call toll free anywhere in the US (800) 826- 4544. It is a fairly long drive from the Melbourne airport to the Port, I did a confernce a couple of years ago at a hotel another 5 miles south along the beach and taxi's from the airport in Melbourne ran about $40 each way.
Good Luck,
David
