Hi! We will be spending a few days in West Palm Beach while vacationing in Florida for our honeymoon! We are in our mid 20's and will be looking for a NICE large hotel for romance and fun...
Any SUggestions??
How far is it a drive from Orlando to West Palm Beach?
Any other beautiful cities by the ocean not more than 2 1/2 hours from Orlando??

Well..depends on if you get caught by Florida's finest, but at 60 you'll make Orlando in about 3 hours as it's 180 miles between the two.
I'd suggest going south to Ft. Lauderdale or further to Miami which is only 70 miles south.
Take a look at Hilton Singer Island Resort West Palm Beach.................but west palm is not really known for romance..........you might want to consider Boca Raton.
Ah...come on Joe...Just because it's know for retirement doesn't mean there can't be any romance..
Take a look a Bibba Hotel, it is very interesting.(WPB).
Go to the beach in Palm Beach
Have lunch at The Breakers, have dinner in the Lake Worth pier in the Greek rest(or take out to the beach) ,
go visit Morikami( Japonese Gardens) rigth beside the America Orquid Society, go strolling in City Place, just relax at the beach...
Try The Marriot at Delray Beach. It is Ocean front and is on Atlantic Ave, a lot off shopping and good restaurants in a walking distance.Nigth clubs also.
When are you planing to come(what month?)
I could go one and one but I'm flying tomorow to Brazil and have to finish to pack, get rental, take dog to kennel,etc.

Hey I am a Orlando local and just last weekend I drove to West Palm Beach for the day.
The dirve is on a toll road costing about $5-10. But there is no traffic problems and will only take you about 2 Hours 10 mins from Orlando. Very easy drive.
The Florida beachs from what I'm used to arn't that impressive. The further south you go the nicer they get. I loved West Palm Beach area, very upscale, soo many nice cars! Make sure you go to Cityplace district and Worth Ave.
Your in your mid 20s so you might want to go to South Beach. I'm sure you heard of South Beach, if you havn't I can tell you about it. But you must have heard about it lol. It took about 1 hour to drive from West Palm Beach So you can do a day trip or spend a few nights there.
Stay away from Daytona Beach, Clearwater, St. Pete, Cocoa Beach, New Symra etc. Talk about boring and the water isn't very nice. Since they are only around 1 hour drive (some shorter some longer) if you do want to go to one for the day choose Daytona Beach because none of those beaches will compare with South Beach or West Palm Beach. The unique thing about Daytona Beach is you can drive and park on the beach.

The gulf coast has great isolated beaches, but if you want to capture the true essence of Florida, travel south to the everglades and take an air boat ride.
Any of the keys are a real treat, pristine waters and a fantastic night life.

Described as a cageless zoo, Lion Country Safari is actually two parks. The first part is a drive through safari which is supposed to resemble portions of Africa. The sceond part is the walk through part, which features exhibits, shows and elephant rides.
The park is located 15 miles west of Southern Blvd on I-95.
Serenity Garden Teahouse exists in an old little house, each room is decorated delightfully with whimsical & chi chi tea party-like touches. Doilies, lace and toile galore! It's very much geared for the "ladies that lunch" set. Getting together with your gal pals, etc. Little girls will love it!
They offer a complete lunch menu with soups, salads, sandwiches etc. And a very nice "high tea" package with champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, salad or quiche, tea sandwiches, scones, petit fours, etc. Good selection of tea varietals.
The service is very kind and attentive.
The clientele is mostly women, of all ages from 4 to 84. But men are welcome of course!
Something fun and unique: They have a "dress up" trunk full of frilly old hads and boas that you must partake of!!!! It totally takes you back to being 8 years old.
Make sure you make a reservation! Price per person is based upon ordering lunch and tea, not the tea package which runs around $20 per person. We always have their "high tea" package.... it is SO much food though, ALL delicious of course, but you won't need to eat for the rest of the day....
worth ave. is located across lake worth in nearby palm beach. worth ave. is lined with upscale stores, restaurants, and bars. worth ave. is the best shopping street in the state of florida for high end apparel and jewery. for a list of stores and restaurants see my palm beach pages.
The first weekend we had cold weather in Cincinnati, I ran to Florida. My friend invited me down and there was no way I could say no. The weather in Cincinnati was 25 degrees, Florida was 78 degrees. Let me think........

We lived here "very briefly".
Actually, Rick for about a "week" and Lin only for about a month!!!, despite the fact we'd just bought our second "very own home" ... a 24x50 3BR Double Wide Trailer... Rick had just started work with JBM Hauling, Grading, & Land Development in WPB when they up and moved their operations to Orlando. SURPRISE :-) .... wish they'd told us before we bought.
