We stayed in the Liki Tiki Village Resort during the week of Sept. 19-25, just after hurricanes Charley and Frances, but just before Jeane arrived. We had purchased the one week time-share from a friend for an unbelievable low price of just $300, which would be far cheaper than most hotels in the area. We stayed in the 400 building on the first floor and were amazed at the accomodations: the room had a full kitchen including a microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, coffee-maker, all utensils and bakeware, dishes, cups, etc. The bathroom was a five piece bath with a huge 2 person soaking tub and a large separate shower. The bedroom had a King size bed and there was a washer and a dryer in the room as well. There were two TV's, but both were from the 80's and had seen better days. There was no maid service, but for many, that means your room is more secure (there was also a safe in the room as well). Overall, I was very impressed with our "condo" style room that was about 700 square feet. It sure beats staying in a 300-400 square foot motel. Like I stated before, we stayed in the 400 building, which we later found out to be the old marketing building and the most dated of the resort; however, we backed up to the swimming pool which we visited every night. The "water park" pool area was nice, but not nearly as nice as the pictures make it out to be with the entire area being just 3' deep and in some areas, just 1' deep.
The resort was located ideally within 5 minutes to Disney, Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom and just 15 minutes to the airport or Universal Studios.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Accomodations were outstanding, yet a little dated. We did not purchase a permanent time share, but we will be back in 2006 with some freinds and family. In reading some of the other reviews, some people mentioned "bug problems". We did not encounter any sort of bug issues during our stay, yet we found a ton of geckos throughout the complex. Being from Washington state, you don't see too many lizards while you are out and about, yet while staying there, you would see one or two about every 10' or so. We thought about catching some and reselling them here in Seattle for $19.99 each, but figured they wouldn't make it through airport securty :- ) Overall - 4 stars and we will come back.
I'd never stay anywhere else in Orlando

I will never be held prisoner in another puny disney resort, spending $2.50 for a can of soda, and being forced to eat from their expensive eateries again! We (my family of 5 -- kids aged 3, 6, 9) all loved Liki Tiki. The two bedroom villas were clean, comfortable and very roomy. It was like a home away from home (something Disney promises, but has yet to deliver on). The beds were comfortable, two tvs, vcr, fridge, micro, wash/dryer, florida porch, and balcony -- loved it all. The water park was great fun for all the kids and mom too! Lifeguards on duty were very attentive, the hotel staff helpful and friendly. The other pool areas were great. The commute to and from Disney was 10 mins, other parks 25, but seemed a lot less. None of us wanted to leave. Thanks Liki Tiki!!!!
Great place for a vacation

My family of five just returned from Liki Tiki (10/15/04-10/22/04). I felt that the accomodations were much better than anywhere I have stayed in Florida. My previous accomodations were Holiday Inn Sunspree (kid suites) and the Disney All-Star resort. I feel that for the same price a two bedroom condo at 1200 sq. ft. is by far better than a cramped hotel room. The condo had three t.v's (27 in) and two bathrooms, which came in handy with three children under the age of 10. the room was clean, odor free, quiet, and safe. the lagoon (water park) was great. much better than the boring pools at most hotels. My kids played there on three different days for about 1.5 hours and had to be dragged away. We did participate in the time share only due to paying 580.00 for a week stay. we also got $112.00 for 1.5 hours of our time. (we had already purchased tickets). Only complaint would be the traffic on 192; it could be unbearable at times. All in all I WOULD recommend this resort to anyone.
Enjoyed our stay !

All of our chins hit the floor when we walked into our place in the 1100 (1154E.) building. It was very nicely decorated with vaulted ceilings, very clean (we did hear a few complaints about the older buildings tho) and very spacious. We had put in a request for this building (or 1000), as it faces the woods and was very quiet other than the frogs ! (which I actually enjoyed !)
We had problems (but no big deal) with batteries in the remotes and lightbulbs blown, but they were very quick to come and replace them.
And then there was the bugs! I ended up sleeping with insect repellent for a few nights because I was waking up with alot of bites. The third day I noticed that there were a bunch of little red ants throughout the place. I called to see about having them come and spray... but I don't think they ever did. I myself sprayed around the door openings and didn't see anymore after that and was able to go to bed unprotected.
The washer/dryer, dishwasher, kitchen and whirlpool were all a real blessing. Having the two bedrooms (3 tvs were nice) and two baths actually made it feel like a home away from home. Most of the vacations we have been on... we have been forced to share one room with our two boys ( because of lack of funds ) making it hard to get rest or adult fun time ! :) No lack of either here !
We were disappointed in the water features and felt that they were over exaggerated on their website. While they were good enough to help keep us cool on days we were not running the parks... my 14 and 9 yr olds were quickly bored.
We had purchased the week for maintainence cost off of my husbands partner, who was unable to use it this year. We would go back in a heartbeat if it weren't for the traffic around the area. Our next vacation will be alittle more layed back and away from the hustle and bustle. Maybe in a couple years we will be ready to go it again !
The worst 'resort' I have ever been to
by TripAdvisor Member borntotravel999
I have been to several resorts in Orlando and must say that this was the worst. The motel 6 would have been an upgrade! We are frequent travelers and I have never rated any resort or hotel this bad. The one bedroom unit was filthy and loaded with cockroaches and spiders! The full size bed in the master bedroom was old and worn. The springs poked you no matter where you slept. Pull out couch was broken so it tipped downward where your head would go and the mattress was horrible! The carpets looked liked they hadn't been shampooed in years! The whole resort was unkept and trashy looking. Would never say here again! This was one vacation where we should have left the same day. We called management about all of the problems, and the only thing they did was send maintenance up to shampoo the carpets (not that you could tell afterward either). Save your money and go anywhere else.
Very roomy, great location, great pools!

Let me start by saying that we were pleasantly surprised with our room. After reading reviews on many websites, we were VERY hesitant to stay here. This is no St. Regis or Four Seasons, but that's not what you are paying for. I rated this as a condo, not comparing it to 5 star hotels. It is a perfect condo rental. There are some very new buildings and some older ones. Ours was older and could use some updating but was VERY clean and nicely decorated. We had 2 bedrooms/2 baths and the living space was very roomy. The extra bathroom came in very handy. The kitchen was great for breakfast each morning - we were gone most of the rest of the day. There are stores very close by to stock up on snacks, etc. and you'll save a ton of money not eating out 24/7.
We were at the parks in no time - 10 minutes to Disney at most. The pools were awesome - the kids loved it! A great way to relax after walking at the parks all day long. My only complaint about the waterpark was that it closed at 7pm at this time of year. We seledom were back before then to enjoy it. The "regular" pools were open much later but I felt that this one should have been open also. We were disappointed that we couldn't use it more. We were never hassled about timeshare - they asked once when we checked in and when we declined the tour, they never asked again. We'd definately stay here again! If you are looking for a large room that can sleep 6-8, this is it! We had a king bed, 2 doubles in the 2nd bedroom and the couch pullled out. Plenty of space!
