Broad River Outpost offers canoe and kayak rentals for the 5 or 10 mile stretch of the Broad River. There are calm waters, minor whitewater and even a 6-foot waterfall drop. Perfect for the beginner and entertaining for the expert :-) Rental of kayak includes paddle and life jacket. You can also bring your own equipment. A trip back to the starting point in an old school bus is also provided.
pictured is the taylor-grady house. this beautiful greek revival home was built in 1839. this house was home to general robert taylor and later the home of henry grady who was the managing editor of the atlanta consititution. the taylor-grady house is listed on the national register of historic places.
Athens has a notable "frat row" which features mansion after mansion dedicated to the peculiar American collegiate institution. Fraternities and sororities in the south are very fond of "classical" architectural styles that remind a person of antebellum plantations. There's a nostalgic code embedded in these structures, some of which is noble and some of which is not.
