underground atlanta

im thinking of moving to chattanooga tennessee very soon and i also look forward to going to atlanta and checking out the underground atlanta mall just from reading about it seem very fun to shop and just having a good time.....

Re: underground atlanta

Unfortunately Underground is a hackneyed, uninteresting place...and frankly for locals, is probably a bit of an embarassment-- though the bars are open late...
Centennial Olympic Park (and the attractions there)-- Midtown with the High Museum and evolving urban streetscape-- and shopping in Buckhead are all way
ahead of Underground as tourist spots...

I would call the underground a tourist trap... the last time I was there anyway. Has a food coust and some rubbish shops. In the summer there are performances though...

Travel Tips for Atlanta

Flat Iron Building - Five Points

by littlesam1

I have seen Flat Iron buildings in many cities and am always fascinated by them. The Flat Iron building in New York City is probably the best known and most photographed example. However the Flat Iron Building in Atlanta actually predates the one in New York by four years and is Atlanta's oldest standing skyscraper. It was built in 1897. The building is 11 stories tall and is short compared to the skyscrapers of today. It is located between Peachtree, Broad, and Poplar Streets. Today it is the English-American Building but is still known by most as the Flat Iron Building. Its address is 84 Peachtree Street and its open to the public during normal business hours.

Georgia Dome

by tpangelinan

Check out a game at the Georgia Dome home of the Atlanta Falcons. Located in Atlanta it was openned in 1992 and has been host to many events other than football. The 1996 Olympic games, 2 Super Bowls, Concerts and much more. This is the largest cable supported dome in the world and has a seating capacity of a little over 71K. Statue Commerating Diversity. ...

by littlesam1

Atlanta is a city of diversity. The home to Martin Luther King Junior and the birth of the modern civil rights movement. Near Five Points Park in the heart of Atlanta I found this statue commerating Diversity. It is appropriate finding it here in this city.

Blind Willies.

by pulgaron about Blind Willies.

If you like to listen to Blues bands, while in Atlanta, this is where you want to be. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly crowd. Good music. Cheap drinks. The whole Virginia Higlands area ids unique and something of a must see. You'll see what I mean once you are there. Jeans and nikes.

A car is a necessity

by thall72

One can take MARTA, however, it is very limited and you could still walk miles to your destination from the MARTA station. If you don't have a car... rent one. There is no way to really effectively do anything in Atlanta without a car.
