The Big Chicken!

The Big Chicken stands 57 feet tall and is a well know landmark through out the area and further. It was built back in 1963, by Tubby Davis to bring in business to his resturant Johnny Reb's Chick, Chuck and Shake due to the growning competition. The eyes go around and the beak opens & closes at all times, in 1974 Jonny Reb's went under and KFC ( Kentucky Fried Chicken ) openned and got the beak & eyes working again. In 1996 a tornado caused extensive damage and almost got torn down. Pepsi Cola pitched in and fix the old landmark and made it much stronger to be able to handle another hit by a tornado. Located at the corner of Highway 120 and U. S. 41 this landmark is even used by pilots to navigate, drivers use it as a starting or reference point like turn left at the Big Chicken.

This is a typical chinese restaurant but with good food and they deliver within their area----all the regular dishes on their menu with some really good spicy garlic sauces included....

The Square

The Square
This is Glover Park, also known as Marietta Town Square or simply 'The Square.' It's surrounded on all sides by bars, restaurants and shops - I'm going to dwell only on a few of these that I've been in but others are certainly worth checking out, like a Slovakian eatery of some sort and a few other interesting joints.

Charleston SC engagement

"The engagement is official"

I took Terry to Charleston to make it official and I wanted to make it the most romantic moment of her life!

"My Mission was a big secret!"

I ordered the carriage ride, called the florist that the carriage company suggested to have a dozen long stem red roses sent over and waiting in the carriage for the ride then I sent a list of Terry's favorite Ice Wines over to Linda in Charleston and sent her on a mission to find a liquor store in town that had Terry's favorite Ice Wine, well Linda you're the best!! She found it and called me with the number and contact person. I then arranged for them to have the bottle sent over to the florist with an ice bucket to be put in a basket arragement with rose peddles, oh yeah we need glasses so I called Lori who is also from our Charleston office who was wonderful to lend me 2 glasses and take them over to the florist also so they could be in the basket! Thank you both for all your wonderful help!! :o)

"The mission continues!"

The liquor store delivered the bottle to the florist in 15 minutes, the florist kept it cold until the day it was due, next the florist had to put the basket arragement together and take it to the carriage company in plenty of time for our ride through the French Quarter and Battery Park along the water. The carriage company filled the ice bucket shortly before our arrival and had it waiting just as planned! Terry could not have been any more stunned that I was able to pull this off because she knew nothing about this part of the trip. It was so fun too!!
