Great, Fun Area of Atlanta!
by getamoveon
Staying in Midtown offers a lot of advantages. The major hotel is Wyndam Midtown. You are near Piedmont Park which is beautiful and very relaxing, numerous good restaurants, Marta Station, and High Museum. You will be located in a very safe part of town (as safe as Atlanta can be!). If you are feeding a finicky group that wants a little bit of everything there is a great Jason's Deli on Tenth. Fun, eclectic area.
Southern WHAT now?

There are plenty of Atlantans who are polite enough to put the rest of our great nation to shame. I try to fit myself in with them in that respect. But if employees of anything, of any sort, act rude to you at all, don't be surprised. We're not that much more "hospitable" anymore than anywhere else.
By the way--Jimmy Carter was the best thing to come out of this state since Waffle House and you know it.
Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield

In 1864, during the Civil War, General Sherman's Union army attempted to take Atlanta, only to be held of by Confederate General Johnston. The Confederate troops held the high ground, forcing the Federal troops to execute a flanking maneuver around them. The Union finally took Atlanta next year.
From the top of Kennesaw Mountain, the Atlanta skyline, Stone Mountain, and other landmarks are visible. One can see why Sherman had to go around this formidable obstacle.

I thought I'd go crazy here but I managed to stay quite calm....But that's probably because I'm picky. There are some good deals though and I found great clothes for my little nephew.
Go during the week to avoid the croud. Clothes, shoes, bags....
