Hi everyone - I'm going to be a first time traveller to Georgia at the beginning of September, coming from an English summer - and I use the term loosely - what sort of clothing should I think of bringing?
The weather can still be quite warm in September so you will not need anything to keep you warm. Summer weight clothing or shorts will do it. September can be one of the best times for pleasant weather. Also Atlanta is a fairly informal city so casual clothing is okay just about any place you want to go. If you have questions about places, transportation and attractions here, don't hesitate to ask. There are several VTers who live here or have lived here and can usually answer most questons. Welcome to the South, y'all.
The guy who made Mount Rushmore carved this piece as well. According to the info
we obtained there, the carvers had a full dinner on the shoulder of General Robert
E. Lee while taking a break from the carving. They set up a 4 person table & had a
rather elegant dinner up there.

kennesaw mountain battlefield park is located northwest of downtown atlanta off of I-75 exit 269. between june 19 1864 and july 2 1864 this was the site of a famous civil war battle. the battle was between general joseph johnson CSA and union general w.t. sherman. sherman defeated the confederates which resulted in the burning of atlanta and his infamous march to the sea. this national park is a very interesting site to visit for those interested in civil war history. also the park has miles of hiking and nature trails and a beautiful vista of downtown atlanta from the top of kennesaw mountain. a very nice park to visit when in the atlanta area. see my kennesaw mountain national battlefield park page for more information.
Very eloquent spot. Great R&B on Saturdays. Beautiful people, classy atmosphere. However, the restroom arrangements are very "orchestrated". Perfect if you like elegance and class in a nightime soiree. More like a big lounge but there's room to dance inside or outside near the pool. Very upscale.
Marta is one of the smarter ways to get to our airport from almost anywhere in the city....$2 one way fare gets you right at the Terminal and plenty of room for bags. Buses also run all over the city and schedules are online for all areas, as well as the train schedules. There are 2 main lines (north/south and east/west) and pretty easy to use---just be carefull at the furthest edges late at night.
