Seeking Direction.... by Andre98 The Homestead Suites fit my plans perfectly. It was only $79 a night, and I had a complete kitchen with a microwave. This was not a fleabag intrastate fugitive type motel. If you are fine with the average Holiday Inn or Marriott Courtyard/Residence Inn, then the Homestead Suites is just fine. North Druid Hills seems to be a quiet area, and this site was within an office park and was well patrolled by Homestead's own security. It would be hard for your basic low lifers to lurk about without looking obvious. My meeting that was downtown at the Georgia World Congress Center. Most hotels within walking distance of that were $200 a night, and soared to the mid to high $300 range during the Wed - Fri convention days. I was arriving on Sunday morning to take in a Braves game and leaving early Saturday morning. A stay at those rates would have cost a mint! At only $79 a night, I had room in my wallet to get a rental car. The hotel was just off I-85 at the North Druid Hills exit, a mere 5 miles ride north, and even rush hour traffic wasn't the nightmare that I had read about. It was high 90s, even broke 100 in that week of June 6-12, 2004, so the car's AC was a God-send! The entire week of hotel and car came in under what three days would have cost at a place like the CNN Center hotel downtown. The Homestead Suites offered unlimited wireless internet access for a one time fee of $7. For a week, that was a steal. One thing they did that reflected their cost consciousness: They cut back on the housekeeping if you are staying all week. From a Sunday arrival to a Saturday morning departure, I got a "refresh" twice (Tues + Fri) which was towels and trash collection, and a full cleaning, including bed linen change only on Wednesday. They noted that exceptions would be made by request. This is one of the best deals especially if you have a family, a car. I had a Queen size bed, but there are a variety of room configurations.
Internet access, although that is becoming more common.
