Georgia Aquarium

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to be in Atlanta downtown (aquarium) this Friday. I'll be driving from Knoxville, TN and will get there around 1pm. My questions are:
1. Should I park downtown or should I park at one of the Marta's stations and just take subway? If I'll take Marta, which station should I park at and how would I get there? I'll be driving to Douglousville after seeing Aquarium.
2.Could anyone recommend good places, within walking distance from Aquarium, for lunch and dinner?
3. How safe is Atlanta's downtown for a young woman?

I would recommend driving and parking in the Aquarium lot. It will save backtracking to get your car and then drive to Douglasville. A very good restaurant a little walk is Daileys. It is a nice place. If you want faster food there are lots of options in the CNN Center just across the park. As for safety if you avoid dark streets you should be fine.

Visit Stone mountain...It has the largest memorial to our Civil War heros carved into the side of this huge chunk of granite.
If you have time and the cajo'nes! drive down to the Thomaston-Upson County Airport for some SKYDIVING! Ask for Ferg...he is a highly experienced tandem master and former US Air Force ROMAD just like me. This is absolutely the BEST drop zone in the Atlanta area. Come out..Skydive and then drink beer like a Viking.(after the skydiving is done of course)They can be reached at WWW.SkydiveAtlanta.com or 1-800-276-DIVE (3483) Although I live here, I'm not really a city person. So I dont enjoy it that much but the jobs are plentiful and the money is good.

Marietta Museum of History

Marietta is one of Atlanta's northern suburbs. In the Marietta Museum of History is The General. During the Civil War, this locomotive was stolen by a daring gang of Union raiders. The story is retold in the classic Buster Keaton movie The General.

This is Atlanta's premier dance location, especially on Wednesday and Saturday nights. It has the potential of being one of my top ten dance bars.
There's a huge dance floor in the center, and multiple levels of bars and seating to both sides. This is where Atlanta's best dancers hang out the most. I went on a Saturday and found a large group of dancers gathered around the floor. I had met several of them at previous UCWDC dance events in Atlanta and Birmingham.
Fridays are usually reserved for concerts from national acts. The mechanical bull gives quite a ride

from the airport u can take marta and get to the city for a 1.75 USD , they have 2 lines - east-west and south-north - they cross the other line at 5 points station (gsu is there, world of coca cola, underground atlanta and so on)

A: "No, most of the shopping has moved out of Downtown, unfortunately. It's a fairly easy MARTA trip up to Buckhead or to Lenox Square though."
