Getting from Hartsfield to Conyers
by 2aussies
My husband and I are travelling from Australia and will be picking up a motorhome from Conyers. We would like to know the best way to travel to Conyers from the airport and a rough idea on the time it would take us?

I looked up taxi fares and the estimated fare from the airport to Conyers was $75 and the time about 40 minutes. If you look at the airport website it has a lot about ground transportation and below is a link to airport shuttles that serve Conyers. I think you would need to call them for rates and reservations but their phone numbers are listed. Oh, and there is no public transportation service for this trip.

Conyers is on the outskirts of the metro Atlanta to the east. The trains only go about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way there.
I just checked on some other transit options. I have never used this service, but I HAVE seen the buses around the city from time to time. There is a company called XPress that provides service from 5 Points (on Forsyth St.), the Civic Center MARTA stop (you can get on MARTA at the airport) and Pryor Street in Atlant to East Conyers. It looks like the trip takes about 1 hour.

The fares are $3 one way or $5 round trip. You can buy a Breeze card at the MARTA station in the airport and use that for a transfer to the Xpress line as well.

There's no public transportation. You can find a shuttle bus company, as suggested. I would think there would be one directly from the airport, keep looking, there are "directs" to the northside, but the westside is not as big a business destination so maybe there is one there, maybe not. I'd stay away from the taxi, it will be very expensive and not pleasant. I'd bet you could hire a town car or limo for the price of a taxi.
Travel Tips for Atlanta
pack for heat
by steffabc123
pack for the heat conditions... youll burn up if you have more than shorts and a shirt... mostly during the summer but in the winter your fine with pants and a shirt... just about every christmas when i was little... we would have this huge chirtmas tree with atleast 100 presents under it... and my grandmother(mimi) would always bake every meal with the garrentee that it would fill us up... my cusins and i would go to bed early to get up at an insanly time to open our gifts from santa(we had to wait till all the family got there to open our gifts from the family) it was the most rividing feeling running down the steps to find the most wonderful present for each one of us in the perfectly chirtmas decorated living room.... i will never forget those christmases....
Long known as the 'Capital of...

Long known as the 'Capital of the New South,' Atlanta has benefitted in recent years from a booming economy, the 1996 Olympics and a baseball dynasty. The city has also suffered from overzealous college get-downs and from the relentless development that's razed much of what it hasn't converted to shopping malls. But there are offbeat neighborhoods to explore and old-fashioned towns nearby where you can still savor something of bygone days. Atlantans are among the most progressive folks in the South, and many of them are college students - who, when they're not wilding during Spring Break, keep the local culture fresh.
Little Five Points

Well known to locals, but probably off the beaten path to most visitors. This is Atlanta's version of Greenwich Village in NYC. A very busy place on weekends and even more so in warm weather where it's the place to see and be seen in a punk rock sort of way. Lots of funky clothing stores, restaurants/bars, street artisans selling their creations- you get the idea.
Blast from the Past

Ok, this place has "cheese" written all over it. But if you like Frank Sinatra, ballroom dancing, or want to know what it was like to hang out in the fifties/early sixties, you gotta check out this place. This senior crowd dances with youthful vigor, and pictures of yesteryear abound. A great & unique experience. Coat & Tie required.
Busy skyways

Atlanta has had one of the top 10 busiest passenger airports in the world for quite a few years now. It has been the worlds busiest several times in the last 10 years, and there are always airplanes and their contrails overhead....
