Luckie Marietta District
by ATXtraveler
The Luckie Marietta District is the name given to the residential area located right next to Centennial Olympic Park, the CNN center, the Georgia Aquarium, and the World of Coca-Cola. It consists of three residential properties and is home to several restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, and other amenities. If you were looking for a shared use architecture, this would be the place, with plenty of access to sporting events at the Phillips Arena and Georgia Dome also.

Where the hippies meet the punks
by akurime
Actually everyone is welcome in Little 5 Points in East Atlanta. It's got tattoo shops, crystal shops, leather and lace and Birkenstocks. I love it, even my hippie parents are known to still go and hang out. A must stop off is Junkman's Daughter. Check out the upstairs full of the funkiest shoes you can find! You can go to shop, or just people watch. I don't go at night, and be wary of bums and pickpockets.
A Wal-Mart for Punk Rockers
by TexasDave about Junkman's Daughter
The facade of the store is a very good indicator of what awaits you inside.
They sell all kinds of novelties and knick-knacks, rocker pants, punk and goth boots, Elvis posters...
you get the idea. This place has to be seen to be understood.
Try to avoid Buckhead, which...
by farseek
Try to avoid Buckhead, which is a cluster of trendy bars north of downtown and midtown. The bars are all packed and the people are all the same for the most part. There are a few decent spots, but the area on the whole is overrated. Instead, venture out to Virginia Highlands, Little Five Points, Flat Shoals, Midtown or Emory Village - there are a number of drinking, music and dancing establishments in these areas with a little more character. Ok, a lot more character. I've attached the 'short list' below - a lot of places around town tend to come and go so they may not all be around. I do not recommend or sponsor any of these establishments unless otherwise noted. This is a mixture of tried-and-true and a few picks that *appear* to have *possibilities*. So if you go there and the place sucks, it's your own damn fault. :D On the other hand, if you discover the place is cool or you want to add to the list, by all means, let me know.
