More about Westin Atlanta North
Poor to no service
by TripAdvisor Member davidc60
Do not go to this hotel if you plan to have a drink at the bar or eat in the hotel. Three of us went to dinner on Thursday evening. It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. No one came to see us while we were waiting for the food. At the end of the meal the manager came to tell us how sorry she was and comped the meal. On Friday night the dinning room was closed. Later that night I stood at the lobby bar for 30 minutes and never could get a drink. There was only one server at the bar, and he was also running food from the kitchen,
This hotel is far below the Westin standard.
Pretty nice!

Huh... the other reviews on here are so different than from my experience. I'm actually shocked by them. I travel a lot for business and I'd say this was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.
I had a great one experience. I thought the hotel was very very nice. Definitely a 4 star hotel. I had a king sized bed in a very spacious room. Very comfortable. It was decorated very nicely. I loved the modern decor. A HUGE table desk that was perfect for working. It was very very clean. Bathrooms were a great size. Bathrobes were provided. The closet even had an automatic light that came on. There was no rust, dirt anywhere. The space was far from tiny. Bed and bedding was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice and super accommodating.
I would stay here again in a heart beat.
The only minor negatives.
The interent is wired and not wi-fi. I'm working on business and I like to sit other places besides the desk. The cord was very short and you couldn't have your computer any where else.
Late night room service - fair. I ordered a turkey club and got a plain old cold sandwich. Oh well, I was too tired to go out for anything.
The snack bar - watch this closely. It's electronically controlled. If you take anything out you will be charged. I realized this and only took out a diet coke and a water. My bill was charged for about 6 items. None of which I took out - and the diet coke and water were not even listed. So just watch it.
not bad

we booked this hotel thru priceline so we got a pretty good rate for this hotel during memorial weekend. we did not get a chance to use any service in the hotel.
the bedroom is pretty small. we had one of those rooms with a door that could open to the room next to us and yes, walls are thin. we could hear everything. they use a lot of refreshner to clean the room and it is pretty strong.
it is a westin standard room/quality. it is next to the mall /highway.
A Must Stay at Hotel!

Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, married or single, young or old, or even if you have a family, this hotel is for you! I stayed 4 days and 3 nights during the Memorial Day Weekend. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was also great. We had a king-size bed that was very very comfortable. After a long day /night of touring the city, etc. it was comforting to know you had a big and comfortable bed to come back to. The bathroom was kinda small, but it was very nice and clean. This hotel seems to be in the middle of the city to where any and everything is 10-20 minutes away. Above all, we got a great price through Expedia and paid $79 per night. The only complaints I have is (1) they didn't change our sheets on the bed one particular night and (2) they charge an arm and a leg to use the internet. Other than that, I will definitely stay at this hotel when I visit Atlanta again.
overall good experience

The room quality is good, but doesn't measure up to the lobby/common areas. Rooms are fairly small. Pool OK, but crowded and not enough lounge chairs. Overall good experience, but a couple of negatives - 1) No vending machines anywhere on the property. They want you to pay $2.95 for a soda from the minibar. 2) Front desk had no maps of Atlanta only a map of the area immediately around the hotel.
Didn't know they had saunas in the rooms...

We stayed on a Saturday night. Got there and was told that we were upgraded to a suite!! Got the Perimeter Suite which was a two story suite on the 19th floor that consisted of the bedroom upstairs while EVERYTHING else was down. Living room, dining room, and bathroom. A spiral staricase took you up and down. VERY tricky at 3:30 in the AM.
The suite was very nice but starting to get dinged up and alot of the furniture had old stains on it. Nothing horrible but noticeable.
My wife and I were treated to a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries that night, until we got the bill. They had charged us room service for it but it was quickly taken off when I mentioned it the next morning.
Now the room temperature is usually not a problem with me HOWEVER, the temp in the room that night was HOT!!! My wife traversed down stairs and slept on the couch in the living room b/c the unit running that part (3 units in all) was working ok. The other two units were pumping out hot air. When I went to the front desk the next morning (after calling the front desk and talking to engineering the night before and they telling me just to keep them running) the nice lady at checkout gave me half of the rate.
I was very nice to everyone involved and they in turn treated us very lovely. So to summarize,
Hotel Suite--$60
Valet Parking--$0 (thanks to parking attendant)
Two Buffets--$0 (which I saw no roaches :)
Would I go back? When they fix the air conditioner.
Loved It!

Everyone at this hotel was attentive from the moment I stepped into the door, food was excellent, my meetings went well and any time I needed something, someone was always eager to assist....highly recommend
Horrible
by TripAdvisor Member titu27
My family and I rented two rooms on Priceline.com. The hotel was under construction and I wish I would've known that at the time I booked the rooms. My family moved rooms 3 times! The first room had ants, the 2nd had roaches, and my room had a sewage problem that completely ruined the smell of the entire room. Then in my move to another room, i just moved in and was resting. About 5 minutes later the maintenance man just walked into my room. Talk about catching someone off guard. I charge that to me being moved and he didn't know there was an occupant in the room. The hotel compensated us for one day of breakfast and a few frequent flier miles. They ended up placing us in separate suites the last night of our stay. Too bad we couldn't start off with that. It was just not the typical Westin atmosphere and I wouldn't stay there again.
No Ice, Under Construction, Horrible Smell
by TripAdvisor Member bella0566
Stayed at the Westin North Perimeter the week of August 20. There was about one foot between the end of the bed and the desk/armoire. The bottom of the armoire fell off when the door was opened. There was hair in the ice bucket, which turned out not to really matter since the ice machine never worked the entire week. There was a horrible, rotten smell in the fourth floor hallway.
On the plus side, every employee was so very courteous and helpful.

Atlanta To Alpharetta
by denna
hi
How do i go to Alpharetta from atlanta? how far is the 2 places?
RE: Atlanta To Alpharetta

The airport and Alpharetta are on opposite sides of town. The best way is to probably take Marta to the Sandy Springs stop. I would highly recommend a car if you are going to be in Atlanta for long, however. I don't know if there are any car rental places close to the Sandy Springs stop, however.
If you are going to be staying at a hotel or an extended stay hotel, you might check with them to see if there are shuttles from the airport to the hotel.

RE: The previous reply. Take the MARTA train from the airport but, do not stop at the Sandy Springs station - go one more stop north of the Sandy Springs stop to the NORTH Springs station. That is the current northern terminus of the MARTA system. There are express buses running north from that station to various locations in Alpharetta. The buses leave from inside the toll gates so, you will not have to pay for another ticket. Check www.itsmarta.com for current bus numbers, routes, and times. You should have absolutely no problem getting from the North Springs MARTA Station to Alpharetta - thousands of commuters do it every day. Good luck!

Ah, thought the north springs/sandy springs stop was the same. Never ridden marta past Lenox/buckhead.

What is the closest, inexpensive hotel to the North Springs Station? Prefering a less then mile walk but will take a taxi if necessary.
Re: Atlanta To Alpharetta

There really are no hotels within a mile of the North Springs Station. It's located in a residential area with virtually no commercial ventures anywhere nearby. But that said.... there are lots of hotel options within a mile of the Dunwoody Station - two stations south of North Springs. The Dunwoody Station is basically right next door to the Perimeter Mall and so, hotel options normally found near a large regional shopping mall would apply. There are a lot of options near the Sandy Springs Station as well - the station between Dunwoody and North Springs. For inexpensive, clean, and safe... check out the Microtel or La Quinta options on Peachtree Dunwoody Road. You could walk from either station but, it might be preferable to take a cab.
