this interesting federal style home was built in 1818 for augusta mayor nicholas ware. it was called ware's folly because it cost $40,000 to build at the time. $40,000 was a huge amount of money in 1818. as a comparison 50 years later the large church of the most holy trinity cost $42,000 to build. today ware's folly is home to the gertrude herbert insitute of art. see the attached website for current exibitions.
Augusta National Golf Course is absolutely beautiful, as you can see from the photos, but the experience of going to the practice rounds is unforgettable. Tickets are hard to get, but if you are able to, don't miss it.
