This is one of the many huts in this area of the Appalachian Trail. To my knowledge these are free and offer minimal facilities. There was a huge group staying there the day we made the trek and why not, the weather was fabulous!
Not much in the way of comfort, just some shelter but boy, what a view!
It's easy to see why so many people are moving up to this area from Florida or at least buying vacation homes here. 3000 square feet with dual garages for just over $200K on half an acre of land! The funniest thing was the whole street was made up of ex-Floridians!
We only had two nights here but we loved the huge front porch. It was great catching up with old friends and enjoying a few brews. Next time I'll bring more. The country is dry and you have to drive half an hour to pick more up.
It's about ten minutes from Vogel State Park and there's access to numerous trails there.
