Marina State Park
We currently have a reservation at Motel 6 on Victory drive for my son's graduation from Basic (Ft. Benning) on 2/24; however, we are receiving mixed messages about the area (good from Chamber of Commerce, bad from form letter from Ft Benning - who knows how old this form letter may actually be). Our second consideration is Days Inn on Macon Road (I-185, Exit 4). Wondering about Continental Breakfast at both locations, restaurants, shopping - both locations as we will be there for several days, but really don't want to eat out three meals a day either.

Wish I had more concrete details. It's been a good five years since I went through there with any regularity, but parts of Victory Drive were kind of seedy. Not necessarily, I think I'd get mugged there, but filled with night clubs, strip joints, etc. It is close to a base...
The other place was a nicer part of town and since I-185 goes straight to the base, not that inconvenient...
But I have no idea what shopping, etc. you'd find. I'm sure within an exit or two you'd find a grocery store, though.
