greensboro is the county seat of greene county georgia. pictured is the greene county courthouse. this greek rivival building was built in 1849. originally greensboro was a collection of log forts built in the late 1700's. in 1787 greensboro was burned by creek indians and 31 settlers were killed. the town of greensboro was incorporated in 1803 and the town prospered until the outbreak of the civil war. in 1863 leach & rigdon opened a pistol factory and made guns for the confederacy. today greensboro is known for it's prominity to beautiful lake oconee. greensboro is an interesting town to visit just off of I-20 between atlanta and augusta.
