St. Simon's Visitor Center

You can pick up some info on the island at the attractive "tabby" visitor center which is on hwy 17 in Brunswick where the causeway leads to the island. I was a bit disappointed in the kind of material they have as most of it seems geared toward commercial enterprises and there is not much on the history of the island - or even a really decent map. The building is nice though and is constructed of "tabby," a local material which is a mixture of sand, shells and mortar and is typical of the traditional structures of St. Simons. East Beach, Island Sweets, the Marshes of Glynn.
Go visit!

If you stay on St Simons Island you must go to Jekyll Island and see Driftweood Beach. It is a site to see. Go south on route 17 and make a left to go to Jekyll Island, pay the $3.00 toll, make a left onto riverview drive and a few miles up on the left park you car and walk toward the beach, you will not be disappointed, make sure you bring your camera and plently of film!
St. Simons Island, Georgia

"St. Simons"
St. Simons Island is off the eastern coast of Georgia. It is easy to see the island because you can cross the expansion bridge both to St. Simons as well as Jeckyll, Island. It is a beautiful peaceful place and is only slightly commercialized.
