More about Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden Savannah
Fabulous vacation experience
The Amethyst Inn is a fabulous bed and breakfast. While many B&Bs are pretty places to sleep, the Amethyst Inn was a great vacation experience. Located in Savannah's historic district and only a couple blocks from beautiful Forsythe Park, it was an excellent location to walk anywhere in the historic district. It's less than a mile leisurely walk to the river. Breakfast is served buffet style with several excellent choices each day. The dining room is set up with enough places to accommodate all guests at once. The guests had a great time chatting about daily itineraries and making dinner plans. A variety of delicious appetizers and wine are served late afternoon. Guests made a point of returning for the appetizer time to compare notes on what everyone did that day and plans for the next day. One guest said that she chose the Amethyst Inn because when she called for reservations during appetizer time, she could hear several people talking and laughing in the background and thought it would be a fun place to stay. The inn owners have lived in Savannah for many years and have many suggestions for places to shop, eat, activities, and tours. The inn owners make a point of spending time with the guests. After just a day, you feel like you're connecting with best friends that you haven't seen for a long time.
Wonderful stay at Sarah's Garden!
The owners were so hospitable. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is a great place to go for a honeymoon (which is what we did). We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and hors d'oeuvres each day and great ideas of activities we could do during our stay. Overall, great trip!
My husband and I went to the Amethyst Inn on our honeymoon in May. We arrived a few hours early, but were graciously taken inn and shown to our room by one of the owners, Rocky. He not only showed us around the house (which is very impressive), but took the time to show us a map of the town, where the best restaurants were, and how to get around.
We attended the cocktail hour that evening and met some of the other guests. We had a couple different wines and some cheese and crackers, and a variety of dips and flat breads, which we enjoyed in the back garden by the pool.
We were free to come and go as we pleased and were kindly asked to treat the house as our own.
For breakfast there was a buffet of fresh coffee and juices, biscuits, toast, eggs, fruit, muffins, bread pudding, and home fries. Everything was awesome! We explored the town all day and returned for coktail hour where we met Rocky's wife, Jane. Jane and Rocky are the kind of hosts everyone should strive to be. They created a warm, inviting atmosphere that made everyone comfortable. They even chatted with me after everyone else had gone back to their rooms and asked my opinion on some of the remodeling they were doing!
Breakfast the next day was just as good as the first but this time we had grits with cream cheese as an added bonus. Dee-lish!
In a nutshell, the Amethyst Inn is the kind of place you want to return to every year. You can count on being greeted warmly, treated kindly, and enveloped fully in the serene ambiance of the Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden.
Welcoming and warm atmosphere!
The Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden is a beautiful inn located in Savannah's historical district. It is a very welcoming and warm atmosphere.
Breakfast and afternoon appetizers were always a fun time to talk with other guests and get ideas of what to do next in Savannah or on our next trip to the US.
We loved that breakfast was buffet style. This was great for people with varying tastes and appetites! Afternoon appetizers were also delicious. The food was great and it varied every day.
The owners (Jane and Rocky) were very helpful in providing ideas for activities or restaurants.
The only criticism that I would have is that the inn's advertisement indicates fresh cookies would be available daily in the dinning room/parlour area. There was a jar of cookies that everyone could help themselves to but the cookies were not fresh.
Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend this inn to anyone. The owners (Jane and Rocky) are really great and they were what made our stay so memorable. They are very warm people who genuinely care about their making their guests' stay a pleasant one!

Loved the Inn
We throughly enjoyed our stay at this B and B. The hosts and staff were all very congenial. The food was delicious and served hot. Even though Jane and Rocky do not live at the Inn they are always there when needed. If you like southern hospitality at its best, you will enjoy staying here' We are looking forward to returning.
What a lovely Bed & Breakfast Inn. When we arrived we were met and greeted with such friendly smiles. We were offered refreshments after our long drive and shown our lovely room. It was decorated in Victorian style which I love and each room was in a different color and uniquely styled. We stayed 4days and each breakfast was different and delicious which had something for everyone. If you wanted something different you only had to ask. The staff, Pat and Joby, who cooked delicious meals and took care of our rooms were very helpful and friendly. The owners Rocky and Jane were so very friendly and helpful as I envisioned Southern hosts to be. We enjoyed our stay so much that when we return in the spring we will stay at the Inn.
Our First Anniversary at the Amethyst Inn
My husband and I were looking for a nice, romantic getaway to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a more beautiful or lovelier place to stay than the Amethyst Inn. We were treated like family, it was like home away from home. Also, during our stay my camera decided to quit working and we didn't get any pictures of the Amethyst Inn. I told Rocky and Jane about it and asked them if they could get me some pictures and they were so kind to do so. We will definitely be back to stay at the Amethyst Inn in the future and would highly recommend to everyone. We would like to thank the people at Amethyst Inn for making our first wedding anniversary a special one!

Very nice inn
We just returned from our first visit to Savannah, 3 days based at the Amethyst Inn. This was a nice quiet location on the edge of the historic district. Comfortable, well-decorated accomodations in the Camellia Room. Easy access to the rest of the city via tour bus, taxi, or free city bus. Within walking distance of Forsyth Park and severl of the park squares.
While heading for our ultimate Florida destination, my husband and I decided to break the trip with three nights in Savannah. Although Jane and Rocky were out of town, Pat and Joby made our stay special. December is a quiet time, so they upgraded us to the exquisite Dahlia suite, a roomy and elegantly-appointed corner room with an efficiency kitchen, a separate sitting room, a comfortable four-poster bed and a tub jacuzzi. Their breakfasts were tasty, and they were unfailingly helpful and gracious. Jane had baked before she left so there were holiday candies and cookies galore. The inn itself is aptly named. It's a jewel, both inside and out. You can be sure we won't be shopping around for other accommodations when we return to Savannah.
