More about The Cloister At Sea Island

Southern Elegance since 1928

by MatthewMetcalfe about The Cloister at Sea Island

The Cloister is one of the most elegant hotels in Georgia. Since 1928 is has hosted Presidents, Prime Ministers and the worlds elite. Impeccable service combined with attention to detail make this resort truly world class.

From the minute you pass through the gatehouse that separates Sea Island from St. Simons Island, you know you are someplace special. The roads are paved with brick, the buildings are mediterranean influenced and the grounds are magnificently kept up.

Along the main drive to the hotel you will pass oaks that have been planted by dignitaries during their stay on the island. Upon arrival to the Cloister, you will find that you are treated as well as the world leaders who preceded you. Service is the key to this resort. There is nothing the staff won't do to make your stay perfect. In addition to the beach club and pool, there are horses, nature walks, a shooting school, spa, golf, and world class dining. A wine cellar that is one of the best in the world will complement your dining at the cloister.

The rooms are huge and the attention to detail really shows. Personalized stationary, 45" LCD TV with High Definition service, a bath suite with Bvlgari toiletries, 500 thread count sheets... Enjoy.

It comes with a price though, so beware. Rooms range from $500 a night on up. $750 a night to stay in the main building is a starting point.

Enjoy the home

by BruceDunning

The island has been a haven for the "upper echelon" for 80 years. The beginning was with construction of the Cloister hotel, a landmark in the south. The elegance is hard to beat. Eventually lots were sold and homes built. It still is not overbuilt, and the control factors dictate how and how much a home can be constructed. There is nothing small end for those homes.
The Cloister and the Lodge are two places to stay-Rates will range $500-1,000 a nite. The rooms generally are 700-1,200 SF.

Travel Tips for Sea Island

SAmple the area

by BruceDunning

The island is close to Brunswick Georgia and next to St. Simons Island. The area is filled with golf courses, water sports and deep sea fishing as a side light venture. Fort Federcia on St. Simons is a nice side venture and also the old homes along the main road are long in history, for our country gentry.
