Necessities on the Island
by weebrie
You can find your basics at Chu's on Tybrisa, all of your beach gear at any of the many shops, and a small grocery store off of Butler (IGA). But if you need anything more substantial, head off of the island and you will run into a WalMart and a Publix (I believe) right off the island. Or, stop on your way in. Every memory! Tybee is my love!

Bathing suit, tank top and shorts are about all you are going to need. SUN SCREEN!!!!!!!!!
My sister failed to put some on and she looked like a lobster!! Even though the sun isn't as strong as somewhere else it is still there.
One of THE Best Restaurants on the Island!
by Azonie about Georges of Tybee
Georges is set in a very old home that has been converted to a SUPERB high quality restaurant. George, the owner is not only very distinguished, friendly, diplomatic but patient as well..We arrived the first time we went without reservations but he accomodated us anyways and treated us as if we had reservations.
The ambiance inside georges is very intimate, there is probably only about 20 tables, if that, the atmosphere is low key but elegant.
The food is out of this world at Georges, I had the Shrimp and scallop Linguini and it was EXCELLENT, my husband had the Ribeye, we both were VERY satisfied with our choices. The desserts were out of this world as well.
Go for a full meal or just the appetizers, the Signature soup is one of THE best soups I have EVER had! Shrimp Linguini
Fishing - Tybrisa Pier
by weebrie
You can either hang out or fish off this pier. Night fishing makes the most sense as there are less people swimming. There are no holes to set your fishing rod in, so if you don't want to hold it, bring a dog leash to secure it to the pier in case something (usually a small shark) grabs it. Two rods are allowed per person, I believe. Even just sitting and watching other people catch fish is great. Warmer weather is obviously the best time for this, but I've seen people up there in all weather. There are sinks and counters to help you clean up. Bait can be found at any local gas station. Get it early in the day to defrost it properly, or add some sea water in warmer months and hope for the best!
Just walking around the Island..
by Azonie
Just walking around the Island is a fun thing to do, you never know what kind of scenery you'll see..The area is just loaded with homes that have been there for years and it's so quiet and peaceful. To be out on a summer day with the breeze in your face and the Trees overhead is almost heaven.
