The hotel is conveniently located near the Visitor Center. The restaurant at the hotel was decent and had an amazing view of the volcano. The breakfast buffet was good enough and not too expensive. And the view at breakfast was priceless! There is also a small cafe with quick sandwiches for lunch. It seems that they get a lot of bus tours that come there for the buffet lunch, so I might avoid that crowd.
Staying at the hotel is a special experience and if you are going all the way to Hawaii and want to experience the Volcano, then you should stay here!

Did not stay but seen the rooms and they aren't impressive but looks very comfortable and cozy. Probably enough if you don't plan on staying in the room all day which is why you came to Hawaii right? I wouldn't stay here if I planned to visit the whole island really. I'd stay in Kona or Hilo which are easier launching points.
Volcano House has numerous fire place in the lounge area as well as exhibits, portraits of the Hawaiian dynasty, and other volcano-esque stuff. You have a few souvenier shops, a bar, and a restaurant as well. You can't miss the entrance with the many posted signs. Turn to channel 530AM to get updates from the park area.
