Great hosts, beautiful rooms and grounds
My friends and I had only one night to spend in the Pahoa area, and feel like we simply lucked out to find Jerry and Todd's gem of a B & B on line. Our hosts were attentive but not hovering, served a beautiful breakfast in a peaceful setting, provided a luxurious outdoor hottub, and I really hated to leave. I would go out of my way to book with these guys again.
Warm and Inviting
My husband and I stayed at the Coconut Cottage Dec. 27 to Jan. 2, 2008. We stayed in the Bali Sprite Suite as well as the Royal Hibiscus Room. Both rooms were wonderful, clean and spacious. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. They have a beautifully landscaped yard and provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning. We both highly recommend this charming B&B.
The quintessential Hawaiian Bed and Breakfast!
This was our ( my boyfriend and I) 2nd stay at a B&B in Hawaii, the first one being very interesting to say the least. Then we arrived at Coconut Cottage.....it was like the heavens opened, then birds were singing and the sun shone down from the Gods. Ok maybe that is a stretch, but it truly was a lil piece of heaven! It was very easy to find and the directions that Todd and Jerry gave were excellent. The grounds were impeccably kept, inside beautifully decorated and very clean. Todd and Jerry were such gracious hosts, and very knowledgable about the area and its' many sights to see. We stayed in the Pineapple Suite which was lovely and spacious, a very very comfortable bed and a bathroom with 2 sinks which always make the mornings go faster! It truly is the little things that make all the difference such as water in the min fridge, and little snacks that really came in handy after a long day!
The breakfasts are truly gourmet, and even though my boyfriend is a very picky eater, he left feeling full and satisfied because Todd and Jerry think of everything! If you don't want one of their 5 star culinary delights prepared fresh each morning, well then you can settle for cold cereal, which they have a great assortment of, as well as fresh fruit, juice, coffee, one day we had scones that would have my English grandmother coveting their recipe! If they would have had a dinner service, we would have skipped eating out completely!
I can not imagine staying at a nicer B&B, anywhere in the world, but the ambience and friendliness of the hosts made this the best B&B in Hawaii, and actually since the bar has been set so high, I probably won't stay at another for fear of being dissapointed. Keep up the great work!
Traveling on business, we were delighted to stay at Coconut Cottage! Our room was very comfortable and breakfast the next morning was delicious - set out on a sunny enclosed porch. Don't miss a tour of the beautiful grounds and a dip in the hot tub! The owners were terrific hosts who gave us suggestions for what to see and do in the area. No complaints! We loved it and will return again!

mahalo, Todd and Jerry!
Ahhh...what a lovely ending to our first Hawaiian vacation. Todd and Jerry have really done a great job remodeling this place and have a great sense of just how to pamper guests.
Our breakfast was wonderful. So civilized compared to others we had gotten along the way. The hot tub in it's garden setting at night was sublime with those chirping frogs making it very exotic.
Our thanks to our hosts for giving us so much info about what not to miss and where to eat. Whe we had to leave before breakfast was served we were handed a nice bagged breakfast for our journey.
It was also nice to come home to our room and wonder the hundreds of movie titles for our enjoyment. We managed to watch two films and still get a good nice sleep in that comfy bed.
Special kudos to the care given for sending us a misplaced sentimental piece of jewelry. It almost beat us back home.
We hope to be back and highly recommend Coconut Cottage.
Discover Old Hawaii at Coconut Cottage B&B
The spirit of "Aloha" comes alive at Coconut Cottage. We found this B&B via the web and were immediately enchanted by the "Old Hawaii" feel of this property. Could the B&B in real life be as wonderful as was depicted on their web site? The answer is a resounding "Yes!" Hosts Jerry and Todd obviously have found a piece of paradise on earth and are so gracious in sharing this sunny spot with travelers like ourselves looking for the beauty of Hawaii tucked under one roof! Gorgeous breakfasts, exquisite grounds filled with tropical flowers, a romantic hot-tub, rooms with fine attention to island detail, even a major selection of DVDs should one choose to relax in bed and watch a film. The hosts are most attentive to their guests and will provide much information about the many sites and experiences to be had on this side of the Big Island...We also enjoyed meeting the other guests at breakfast. Food is world class. We felt so at home. Old Hawaii indeed...and with fresh eyes!
Wonderful 2 nights in paradise
We enjoyed our two nights stay here in Feb 2008. Jerry and Todd were courteous and very pleasant inn keepers ready to accommodate last minute changes. Our grandchildren lived in Pahoa and they decided to join us at the B&B. Jerry and Todd were gracious and the kids stayed over night for both nights.
This place offered special benefits to everyone. It had the antherium garden next door and a lot of mo'os (geckos) and specials bugs that were of interest to the 5 year old. It also offered a patio for the 3 year old to play with her Barbie dolls and her play-dough and another 3 year old guest staying at the cottage. The 11 year old was totally blown away by the numerous DVD movies that Jerry and Todd had collected and chose a movie each night with which to fall asleep.
The kids were in awe having morning breakfasts served on crystal and china. The ham/cheese omelets and the stuffed French toast were big hits.
The children enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and the yard in which they played.
The house was very clean and organized with special items throughout the rooms. Their exquisite taste in bedding and pillows was a welcomed touch of class. We look forward to another visit to the Coconut Cottage Bed & breakfast in the near future.
Great Location, Wonderful Hospitality
Can't say enough about Coconut Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Todd & Jerry have done a great job getting their dream up & running. My husband & I and our two young children were graciously welcomed and accommodated during our 4 night stay. We highly recommend booking the Garden Bungalow, a detached cottage separate from the main house.
Todd & Jerry are very knowledgeable about the area and helped direct our travels. Coconut Cottage is far enough from Hilo to make you feel that you're out of the city, yet close enough to be only a 10-20 minute drive from the airport, restaurants and grocery store.
It's also a great location to call home base as you're visiting the southeastern part of the Big Island. Only 10 minutes to the hot ponds, 20-30 minutes to Volcanoes National Park and near many other natural attractions.
When you’re done for the day, enjoy Todd & Jerry’s extensive collection of DVDs, or a dip in the hot tub. Then awaken the next morning to a delicious breakfast, complete with tropical fruits & juices & island coffee to get a kick-start for another day in paradise!
Exquisite in all ways
We absolutely loved our stay with Jerry and Todd, who are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were exquisite, as was every detail of the property and experience as a whole. We loved the singing frogs too! We toured the rooms and all are beautiful. We stayed in the separate cottage with our one year old and it suited our needs perfectly. They even found a small tub for us to give her a bath. I hope to return to Hawaii at some point and if I do I will certainly return to the Coconut Cottage.
a wonderful little jewel
We had a wonderful stay. Todd and Jerry not only served wonderful breakfasts, but were also great guides. They told us about the best spots to visit. We loved the cozy feeling of the B&B. Can't wait to go back.
