It has to be the traditional hula dance. They have luaus at most major hotels, quite the tourist trap, but you have to see one and watch because their culture is very different than what I am used to. This is my favorite island, which has many waterfalls. I bought a book that was wrote by the locals, we hiked to the waterfall where 'Fantasy Island and Jurassic Park were filmed'. It was a restricted area, but we went anyway. Cool being at the top of that waterfall.

You have to get lei'd while in Hawaii.
Even my dog got lei'd. Ok, to be serious you can not take dogs with you from the mainland unless you are staying a long time because they quarantine them.

Hike one of the trails down to the coast. Somebody in our group has the ingenious idea to hike down this trail. Not a problem going DOWN, but there's only one way back UP and its not by escalator or donkey. If you're going to do this, bring plenty of water, sunscreen and wear decent shoes.

This island has the barking dog beach, Mark Twain called the desert there 'Little Grand Canyon, and we ran across a coffee plantation which was interesting to see how it is made and beans picked from the trees.
