What a marvelous place to relax and enjoy the beautiful island of Kauai. The hotel is just one of the few places that offer air conditioning for their condo rooms. The Poipu Plantation is located on the south and sunny shores of Poipu beach.
We got to the hotel after hours so our room key and directions were waiting for us on a message board. Our condo was the "Macadamia" room, this was by far the best room offered, not because it was fancy but because it was at the back of the complex, a seculed upstairs unit with a great lanai to sit and relax, have a drink or a cup of coffee and watch the ocean, mountains and the world go by..
The room was a one bedroom with a King size bed. It hads a full kitchen and dining area. The bathroom was a bit stark and the only amenities offered was a bar of soap. So make sure you bring hand lotion and shampoo supplies. There were 3 sliding patio doors which we opened at night and early in the day, this coupled with the tradewinds made for pleasant temperatures at night and early morning. The air conditioning came in handy for cooling off the room rapidly when it was needed.
The Plantation Poipu offered use of a gas grill and a hot tub on a deck tucked away amid the tropical trees and flowers. They had coin laundry on site which was both convenient and economical.
The cost of the condo was an amazing rate of $135 per night which is an outstanding rate and they offer a reduced rate for those visitors who return for another stay.
The Poipu Plantation has 2 bedroom 2 bath condos which are great for family stays. There is also a 1938 plantation home on the property with four excellent Kauai "Bed and Breakfast" rooms. Breakfast is not available for the guests who rent the condos. This is a very nice hotel! Everything you could want and more! The property is beautiful with lush flowers and plants. A huge pool, and a very nice beach. Also a few nice places to eat on the property as well. The service is excellent, the rooms very nice and roomy, and the view is beautiful.
The pool is the largest on the island. The view from the ocean view and garden view are beautiful. Wonderful places to eat on site. The grounds are beautiful and lush! Has it's own beach! Leave a Comment

When I imagine a resort, this is what I imagine. Beautiful ocean view room, dark furniture, several pools, jacuzzi, waterfalls, spa, workout facilities. Has everything.
Happy hour at the pool bar between 5 - 6 with free drinks for all guests! It is wonderful to watch the whales in the ocean while meeting other travelers The staff kept those drinks flowing!! I had the ultimate luxury of staying at the Hyatt Regency Kaua'i Resort & Spa as part of a travel agent familiarization trip. This place was hands down the most luxurious property I have ever stayed at. Conde Nast Traveler ranks this resort 4th out of all the Pacific Rim hotels and in the top 100 in the world. I would have to totally agree. The expansive landscaping, services, & amenities of this property makes it THE supreme resort in the state. If you have money to burn, treat yourself to the ultimate in luxury accommodations! Although I didn't take lots of pictures of the property, here I am on its private section of Poip'u Beach....one of the top 10 beaches in the world. While we were on Kauai, we stayed on Secret Beach at a private cottage called Hale Lani (Heavenly Home). I can't even begin to describe how much we loved this cottage.
gated entry; the landscaping was unbelievable; outdoor jacuzzi; acres to wander and explore; private pathway to the beach; no air conditioning (just FYI for those of you that MUST have it)

This is where our friends stayed. It's a great hotel with lots of facilities; beautiful grounds, a nice pool, the beach close by (right in front of the hotel), a small garden with a lake with geese and ducks. The room was nice and clean, I guess typical Marriott. The only problem for me is that it costs more than I wanted to pay. The picture is taken on the balcony towards the pool.

We leased a beach house for the week that we was on Kauai. It was across the highway from a usually deserted beach. The house had a large living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 2 baths. A full length porch on the front and back. On the back there was an enclosed shed with a washer and dryer. There was also a view of the beach from there. This house was on the west side of the island, away from most of the tourists. Located only minutes from the airport, I highly recommend this gem. After talking to the owner (who was more than helpful and friendly) we got a cute little room on the ground floor. We didn't have air conditioning but it is available. There was a little counter in the back of the room with a sink, microwave, and a coffeemaker. There was also a fridge underneath the counter and 2 garbage bins, one for recyclables and one for non. The bathroom was quite nice for its small size, with a sink, a counter and long mirror, and a tiled shower (no bath). This was his most modest priced available room, but you can choose to stay in one of the Orchid Suites.The rooms are all non smoking, but there is a garden area with some chairs and a bench where smoking is allowed. Kalapaki Beach is located across the street. There is also a little marketplace behind the beach with maybe 15 or so shops and eateries. A little ways down the road, there is also a mall. I would recommend this hotel to any and everyone.
In the hotel lobby, there is a koi pond that goes through the wall to the outside. Very nice touch. The hotel also offers free use of beach towels, boogie boards, ect. to its guests.
The most unique thing about the hotel is how eco-friendly it is. Not only was there the recyclables bin, but there were also notes about saving electricity by turning off lights and tv, and one in the bathroom suggesting to reuse your towels to save the island from water waste. Being an environmental protector myself, I really enjoyed that a hotel would suggest these tips to its guests.

Our stay was really great. We went in October (off season) so we got a great price and a room upgrade. They have a fabulous landscape design around their pool area. The beach that they are on is completely unusable and not swimable. We found this to be a good thing, because it forced us to drive to many other beaches and really see Kauai. Great central location - about halfway between everything. Close to airport (2 miles).
They have 4 pools, a lagoon that attracts natural birds/ducks/geese. A large rooster/chicken population lives nearby... but that's the case for almost everywhere on Kauai. We've stayed almost twenty times in vrious accomodations they mange around Kauai. Virtually every time, we had a wonderful stay. If you look them up on the Internet, remember to look fro EXACTLY "Kauai Vacation Rentals in Lihue. There are several imitators, so beware.
