Loved the Kaanapali Beach Hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
This was our first trip to Hawaii. I loved this hotel. If you don't like big lobbies, fancy gift shops or hoity toity atmospheres, you will like this place. We like low-key places. We came to relax and this is a nice place to go. The pool is just a pool. But the grounds are large and beautiful. I think it is truly an Hawaiian atmosphere. But we like this hotel because there are not a lot of kids there. Nothing against children, but it was our anniversary and we didn't want to go to a high activity place. Our room was large and lovely. We had a great view of the beach. The entertainment every night was great. They treat you like family. We plan to go back next year!
Kaanapali Beach Hotel Exceeds Expectations

This is a wonderful hotel, with a friendly staff that did their best to make us feel at home. Our room was comfortable, clean and afforded us a courtyard view. The location is one of the best on the island. It is convenient to golf, shopping and most of the other hotels in the Kaanapali Beach area. We ate breakfast at the Mixed Grill most mornings and enjoyed the convenience of the buffet. We ate in the full service restaurant one morning and the food was prepared to order. It was a better breakfast but took much longer. We chose this hotel for it's value. It lived up to our expectations. We never intended to spend a lot of time at the resort, since there are so many other things to see and do on Maui. Would we stay there again? You bet we would!
Kaanapali Beach Hotel in Maui
by Shoretourist about Kaanapali Beach Hotel in Maui
Kaanapali is a great location generally. There are several Hotels located within a ralatively small but uncluttered community setting right on the Beach. All of the Hotels are within easy striking distance of one another and all are effectively open or available to the residents of the others. Of these, the 'Kaanapali Beach' is the least plastic and least gilded so the atmosphere is simple, friendly, comfortable and unsterile. If you need the glamour and luxury for a night, just pop next door.
Kaanapali Beach Hotel
by Jewelslover about Great value for a true Hawaiian experience.
The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is said to be the most Hawaiian hotel in Maui. From the moment you arrive you feel the hospitality of the hotel staff. The rooms are average, but nice. The best part of the room is the large windows and balcony. You'll want to sleep with your windows open to enjoy the sound of the ocean. The hotel is located right on the beach on the western side of Maui. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, trees and bushes everywhere. The hotel has a pool and a huge checker board that you walk on to play with coconuts (I won by the way). They also give snorkeling lessons in the hotel's pool, and even teach you how to hula dance. They have more than one restaurant on site and a nice buffet style breakfast.
If you are military, ask for a discount.
Motel not Hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
We just came back from Maui - Kaanapali Beach Hotel did not live up to it's slogan "Hawaii's most Hawaiian Hotel" there was nothing Hawaiian about it - certainly not the staff. The whole staff seemed unfriendly to us. The hotel offers no services - we felt like we were staying at a motel instead of a beachfront hotel. Hotel needs some major updates. I guess we fell for the good marketing they do on their website.
beautiful hotel!!

We absolutely loved this hotel!! If you want to have a traditional "hawaiian experience", stay here! The grounds were lovely and the staff very helpful. The staff upgraded our room automatically when we arrived. There were no rooms available with an ocean view with king beds, but the clerk told us he would call when one became available and he kept true to his word. We walked along the beach path to the other hotels and really thought ours was the best due to the Hawaiian hospitality. We even were invited to a farewell ceremony when checking out where we were presented with a farewell kukuli nut lei reminding us that we were "now part of the kaanapali beach hotel family"....we will definately be back!!

Okay so the Ka'anapali Beach can't compete with the big boys ... the pool is average, the lobby plain and simple, but boy do they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They were friendly, helpful and everyone always had a smile for you - you feel that they actually enjoy their work. Also the location is probably about the best on the beach, near to Black Rock and a very short stroll to the Whalers Village. I would truely recommend this hotel - great value for money and truely the best location in Ka'anapali. Another recommendation would be the Trilogy company - that operate right outside on the beach. We took the Explore Ka'anapali Beach cruise - and once again you got the idea that Captain Tim and his crew were actually having a good time too. Thanks to Captain Tim who came down to snorkel with us, we got to see and Eagle Ray, and swim with turtles. A really great day out.
Great Location, service. Budget hotel

I stayed at the hotel 9/20-9/27. The location is the best on the beach ( along with the Sheraton ). The staff was incredibly nice and made me feel welcome. I was upgraded from Ocean front to an Ocean front suite and couldn't have had a better location. The Hotel however is very dated although clean. The Molokai bldg had a very strong mold odor from the minute I walked in, the pool is just that, nothing else. The room was dated but comfortable, again nothing special. the poolside bar has the cheapest drinks on the beach and the bartenders were friendly.
Overall if you just want a room with a killer location this is the place, however I feel that if you want a very nice room, pool, grounds and location, spend a little more and stay at the Sheraton, yes it will cost more but you're on vacation and it will make the trip that much more memorable.

Would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel? We want a relax setting for our silver anniversary. Also price was better. We are budgeting a 2 week trip to 2 islands.

Aloha. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is a laid back, just the type you are looking for, hotel. You can walk the path near the ocean to other hotels and the Whalers Village shopping and restaurants are within walking distance. Happy Anniversary and Aloha oe.
