Where to stay for a couple on honeymoon?

by kirtchik

Hi Everyone,

We are looking to stay for a week or so in a romantic, private and quiet condo/cottage/apartment. It has to be on the sandy swimming beach with the ocean view and patio.

Could someone recommend nice and not too expensive places to consider?

Thanks so much!

Check out the Hale Hui Kai in East Kihei. For a bit more higher end, the Maui Prince is one of the better priced resorts.

The Hale Pau Hana, in South Kihei, is right on Kamaole II, one of the finer beaches on Maui. A 1 br condo in the low-rise bldg will cost around $225/nt depending on the time of year you will be there.

Try vrbo.com for private rentals. The best deals even with the cleaning fees and we have always been happy with the places. Private owners renting their places, clean and affordable but without the room service. good value but nice places.

The New Paia Inn is a great place to stay with a fun, hip little town with lots of shops and places to eat! The beach is really close- one minute from the hotel with private beach access. Everything is new and they have free coffee and muffins in the morning. Also wireless internet and flat screen tv's. Its a great place to stay if you plan on taking a trip to Hana or Haleakala. Where to stay in Maui, Hawaii

We are a couple in our 30's and wanting to stay somewhere nice in Maui. Looked at the Four Seasons, Sheraton Maui and the Westin all seem to be roughly the same price.
Does anybody have any thoughts on the best hotel, we love pools nice views but like to get value for our dollar too!!
There seem to be 2 areas to stay is one beach better than the other??

I have always liked the Kea Lani. Everyone will have diffences of opinion. You won't go wrong with any of the hotels you were looking at.

Hands down look at the Kannapalli Alii

I prefer the Maui Prince which is just a little further East towards Makena (sp?). I little less formal. The beaches for all intents and purposes are the same. They are all excellent. Excellent snorkling, sand, light duty waves, fun to play in. But the Prince is about 60% of the price of the others. Karl

WE had a good stay at Maui Kaanapali Villas near Lahaina. It was very nice and on the beach. We arranged it through AAA travel service with a package deal including car rental.

I lived on Maui for a year and worked at the Fairmont Kea Lani while I was there. You mentioned pools...they have 3. One is an Adult only pool that is very nice. There is also an upper pool with a swim up bar that is attached to the Polo Beach Bar and Grill and a lower pool with a kiddie pool attached. Each pool will serve drinks and lunch poolside.
Every beach on Maui is different and unique. Polo Beach in front of the Kea Lani is very nice. You also get a great view of the Molokini Crater and the island of Kahoolawe from there.

i guess it depends on what you want.

i used to stay at the grand wailea - until I found a great condo complex to stay in. because we wind up heading out to big/little beach down in Makena anyhow, the whole lux hotel is kinda waste (at this point) we usually stay in Maui Parkshore By Kam III. Simply a great location.

I LOVE the Grand Wailea!! (next door to the Four Seasons). I've stayed there on several occasions....spent my 40th birthday with 9 friends there.
