Visit the Pioneer Inn. It a great place to have a drink or eat lunch. When I stayed there the rooms were very plain and not worth the money. Maybe things have changed and they have updated the rooms. The Inn dates back to the the days when Lahaina was a whaling port.
Lanai it is the only island of hawaii that you can go by ferry....it is a privet island own by Dole pinneaples now an exclusive resort have bought it and it is a golfers heavens...and a hikers hiden placer.
Here you will also find bathrooms. They are clean.
There is also a replica of what the court house used to look like in the 1800's. It has been restored for us to see. There is also tons of fishing and whaling equipment on display. It really takes you back in time being in here. There are also old pictures and so much info.
If you have no car of your own, you can book a downhill biking spree. They will collect you at your hotel, take you up the mountain - and off you go on your rented bike, neatly in a group, with a stop here and there.
Visited Lahaina for one day back in 1995. Spent the day shopping at the local shops and visited the Banyon Tree. Then in 1999 we spent three days in Lahaina were we stayed at the Pioneer Inn. During these three days we truely experience Lahaina completely. We eat at several of the restaurants in Lahaina as well spent plenty of money at the local shops. We also went whale watching on two seperate days. The Pioneer Inn is located on the oceanfront in Lahaina Harbour, which makes any water activities very easy.
